Never trust the pictures, they are purely pictorial!?

If the Part Numbers differ, then the parts are different in some way

Hard shoulder of the M1 with a puncture, getting dark.

It wouldn't even get the car off the ground without the base slipping away.................... thus my reference to chocolate and fireguard........ not even worth having in the car.

BTW AA or RAC cards don't weight a lot.

Thanks Peter, that's how my jack looks as well. So I have the correct one. I was puzzled by the "scissor" description. That one looks not like a scissor type to me.

Yeah, may be not quite 'scissor', but more 'scissors' than 'upright with an extended arm'.

How would you describe it????

Hi all,

I've got both an E30 M3 and E30 325i and the jacks are different. The M3 has the jack pictured above. I must say though that the two times I have used it the car has managed to fall off it - luckily before I had the wheel off - so I wont be using it again. I have also read elsewhere that they are prone to this kind of thing happening - wonder if you folks have experienced this. Unfortunately the jack from the 325i (scissor type) is no good since there is a clearance problem with the handle and the car body as it is jacked up. So next step for me will be a trolley jack - guess it weighs a bit extra though...

Cheers, Tim.

Shows how often I use it!

Mine does and it works fine, it fact its the best jack I've used, nice long
handle, good mechanism, I guess a lot of them get sold by previous
owners and get replaced by the wrong one

My jack doesn't look like the picture on realoem for part no 71122225536............ only ever had to use it once and it was as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

May be the arm type is the one to have...............

I have an ETK but never trust the visuals as a proper aid. Many items are just place holder. And till yesterday I didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the various options of E30 jacks to be honest.
I just thought I can help somebody out (for free, if you remember I do this things rather than getting rich on EBAY) before I chuck the thing in the skip.

Uwe - have a look here ...

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/

I checked for my (x) 318is and it read 71121180172

and then for the M3 which is 71122225536

so yep - they appear to differ!

Mine has the normal e30 arm type one.

My M3 has sissor type, and I know normal E30 has arm type, so purely an assumption on my part.

I'll assume that yours works on your M3 without catching on the sill?

Guess your sig name means yours is a 1990 M3 same as mine?

just by reading over this post again, a lightning has struck me. I think I have the WRONG jack!!
The b***y thing never worked properly, but I have put that down to that fact that my pickup points are quite mangled. Most of the time I use a trolley jack and only last time on the ring I was desparet and used the BMW jack (which didn't work....)
