Dbanbery, trust me...IVE SHOPPED AROUND! EVERYWHERE! haha.

I have no idea what you found under the rear parcel shelf.....small rodents? ancient manuscript? Alpine badges? (Now i'm just being sarcastic)

Dont know, tell me

Long live the metal-bumper massiv!

Sohlman....you've got it spot-on...Nice car, heavy insurance problem! I got an M-Tec steering wheel in my '3' and the gear knob needs changing coz the fool that sold me the car bought an aluminium LED jobby from Halfords and just smacked it straight on-idiot! Does anyone know for an M-Tec gear knob kicking about in a friends garage? Short-shift is a very good idea on all BMW'3 i find, because the changes are quite a way apart. (the fact that i'm missing a bush from just under the gear change gaitor doesnt help!!!!!!)  Uprated discs are on my list for the '3' as well,as it tends to brake sideways through corners! - Lots of fun....but seriously dangerous if you overcook it! I dont know what age your 635 (very nice!) is, but mine's 15 years old, and im sure, if yours is roughly the same age, the drivers seat is getting a little close to death. Im going for leather/alacantra. what do you intend to re-upholster it with? I echo your comments on sound systems - mine will be for quality rather than noise too (not even sure if I will put a bass box in it yet)and all speakers will be behind the original pannelling.....well....maybe the 6x9's i have on order will need to be fiddled with!. I have BBS style cross-spokes on it now, but I'm sure it could do with some Alpinas for next summer!

Not sure if i can make donington - i have a friend coming across from Wiltshire to see me that weekend, but i would be fantastic!   I've seen pictures of a Hartge convertible (LHD)..........what a beatiful beast......    thats all that needs to be said really isnt it!....Beauty and the Beast all in one!

Long live the metal-bumper massiv!

yeh ill look into donnington... although if its a track day its not really worth taking my e30..... unless i get the taste for some RWD sideways action!!

scott... ill try that autosol stuff, and ill get you the number fro the insurance..... the best thing to do tho is to shop around............ when i was looking at insurance i bought a max power (i know) and went through the insurance section, starting on the big adverts and goin down in siz like that.... you find the smaller ad insuracne companies tend to better the price you got before, and if you play a couple off against each other, you come out on top.....

the only things im doin to mine as far as modification goes is to rip out the leccy windows and central lockin out of an e30 at a scrappy and put it in mine, along with foglights and maybe a little black std spoiler...... all you can see stereowise in my car is the set of alpine 6x9s on the back..... ill give you 3 guesses what i found underneath the parcel shelf when i was fitting them......... go on............... gimme a guess....

Hi Guys,

I am as mentioned earlier not 19, however i bought my 635csi when i was 20 and 1 month and completely sympethise with you guys. Nice car heavey insurance problem. I think that subtlty is they key when modding any car, and my six has Alpina bits added to it which are not standard, but look great. 17" Alpina replica's, B10 steering wheel and gear knob. I have also fitted a short shift which significantly improves the gear change, and will be adding in November 850csi front calipers, discs, pads and a master cylinder from a 750i. I have also aquired some rear head restraints and  will add these when i get the interior re done.  My sound system is pretty big too at about 1000 watts, but is designed for sound quality rather than noise. Other than the bass box, none of the speakers can be seen and are all hidden within the car. If you decide to put some wheels on the cars i would recomend either some Original BBS's the 15"  or some 15 or 16" Alpina's. If you are about you should come up to donnington on 26th October where you will be able to see my car plus Iain's Hartge H27 convertable, the rarest e30 in the country. Only RHD Hartge convertable made with that engine. There will be plenty of other BMW's to be seen mind you.

both mine and my mothers still has the full tool kit etc, but the torches got used for other stuff...maybe like walking the dog! Idiots! I can appriciate and respect your situation with an '86 BMW.......to find one in Original condition, unmolested is a miracle, let alone a rareity, so lots of respect to you for keeping the look of the car true to the designers artwork!!!!

I cant say ANYTHING regarding the sound system - im looking to put Alpine stuff in my BMW - Head unit, multichanger, and new speakers coz the 15 year old ones in mine have seen MUCH better days!... i only have one baseball cap too, and i only wear that when i play golf!

Mine will end up mint too and i'll keep any parts i change, coz if i die or whatever (it happens) the next owner might want it with original 15" cross spokes instead of 17" Alpinas (as example). The engine is also mint and sounds purrrfect.

I agree with the 'pimp wagon' comments....all that chrome! Try a product called "Autosol"....brings up chrome fantastically- use it on the bumpers of my dads 1975 Daimler Sovereign 4.2 - chrome EVERYWHERE!

I dont agree with the move to a 535, but thats just my personal taste, but respect to you for having your own opinion. Could I be cheekey and ask if you could send those company names with an internet website name or phone number please? coz if the company that did your insurance does the same to mine, i will be a VERY, VERY, VERY happy bunny!

Long live the metal-bumper massiv!

im restoring mine.... its got FSH but the last 4 years the owners let it slip a bit.... it still has the full BMW tool kit  in it tho!!!! i dont wanna do anythin to it in the way of mods cos it will fetch more without (you dont get many 1986 bmws anymore) plus the fact it has aircon and leather... which are rare attributes.... i have put a stereo in it tho....... got given a pioneer head unit with 6disk changer and flip down pull off face... also given a kenwood 10' sub with port...... i know i know its really for the corsa boys... but the sound is quality.... and i dont wear baseball caps......very often...... mines gonna end up as close to mint as i can get it without spending stupid money..... the engines mint with no rattles or clatters.... the drivetrain is good too, altho i think i may need some rear axle bushes soon...... it would spoil the look of it if i was to stick huge alloys on it etc.... its a classic with all the chrome... my friends call it "the pimp wagon" its only been mine for 2 months... hopefully my next one is a M535i or a 323i.... that would be proper bo... also... my quote with adrian flux was £1700.... i then went to DNA and got them down to 1600... then sharp (who aparrently are 19yr old specialists) which is what im with now..... £400 deposit and then £129.80 a month or summat silly... im hopin next year it will drop quite sharply, assuming i get my NCB

tooooooooooooooo long

I'm in South-West Wales (Carmarthen, end of the M4 plus 13 miles). Ive literally JUST GOT the car. This is my first E30 too, but my mother has a 318 and ive driven that loads before. I was supposed to have that 318 when i passed my test because it was promised to me when i was 9 years old (yes i have been serious about E30's since then!)

£1550 for TPFT with no NCB is pretty good! Tesco's quoted me £1894 for this 325i SE with no mods on my own name Full Comp with 1.5yrs NCB, but i have mods (even though they are slight-Spax Adjustables, which lowers the car about 15mm....15mm!!!!! doesnt look any different to me! but it does handle better-VERY STIFF! and a Green Air Intake which takes the car to 191bhp) so I need to try elsewhere. When you re-new your insurance try a link from THIS WEB SITE... Adrian Flux....they told me my insurance would be closer to £1300-1400 WITH MODS DECLAIRED! RESULT!!!!

Have you done much to the car? My beloved Beemer wont have a bodykit unless it adds aerodynamic advantage or makes it handle better. Since my Beemer is NOT an F16 fighter plane, i figure it doesnt need a huge wing,  nor afterburners (to light up the Combat-kitted-Corsa that scrapes the floor behind me at the traffic lights!) but i AM thinking about a set of Alpinas with 205/40/17 rubber because they are true BMW alloys and they do look SO, SO FINE!

Would be nice to hear another 'youngsters' future plans for the car-of-choice, as most of my friends dont see the point of selling my current car to buy an older one. (I also have a 7 month old clio DCi, but i need something with a bigger boot......does anyone want a clio for their wife to do the shopping in????)
