anyone know where i can get one of these for the e30 m3 and if there are good ones and bad ones

All you need is a pice of wire.....
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

Like Uwe said, mine cost nothing - picked it up off the garage floor !

Also that link can be VERY simplified just connect
Pin 7 and 19, Just use a bit of wire.
