For some reason this has been disconnected in my car and I would like it
to work. I'm not a smoker but all useful in-car accessories are powered
off this socket and it would be nice to have that facility. I have looked on
realoem for the loom but I am stumped. Any ideas?

IIRC cable is part of the loom that comes across the top of the dash from the driver's side and feeds heated rear window switch, hazards and heater controls then drops down to behind centre console to feed the cigarette lighter.

The wire to it should be red and yellow and quite thick (with a brown earth).

Fuse number 28.

Probably best to trace where it has been cut back to and replace with a new piece of cable - or root around for a piece of loom from a scrapped car. Should be pretty much the same from RHD E30.

edit to say: It is nearly a year since I was sorting this out on my car so I may have forgotten things and got it wrong.
