Can anyone explain the difference between an M3 strut and, say, a 325i strut??

That is bare, without internals

Could you use a 325/320/318 etc strut body for conversion to new internals and adjustable spring platforms, or are they completely different???

Thanks in advance

I dont think there is except that the m3 strut is attached to a 5 bolt hub

Both the m3 damper and 325 mtech damper are 51 mm

Isnt the M3 strut different in that the anti-rollbar bar link pickup is on the strut on the M3 and not on the other models?

I'm sure the stub axle is wider and longer on the M3 strut.

All 3 points above are correct. i.e. completly different.

Though if you looking for a cheaper alternative, e36
struts / hub etc will fit. Though you then have the extra
expence of new wheels...
