I guess you are talking about the BUMPSTOP. Yes it's in the bottom, bilsteins are upside down
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

All 'conventional' dampers contain oil and gas, be it in emulsion, seperated by a floating piston, in a bag or just 'free'. It's what allows the piston rod to enter the damper body, reducing the internal volume - fluids are essentially incompressible, so if you didn't have the gas element to compress, the rod wouldn't move at all.

Sorry chaps, there isnt a problem, i have bought some and will be fitting them at the weekend, thanks for your comments hoofty which i knew but there are some in the motorcycle world with gas and wondered if there were any bilstein ones available?
