From the letter that I got when the chairman of the drivers club passed away, it was disbanded as no-one wanted to take over the chairmanship, I'm pretty sure the BMWCC didn't take it over

Nice one Jeff Spangle!  your a

I noticed that you got a plug in for this forum on the BMW Car Club forum, with this site's new web address...

so, if people really do want assistance, fun and a warm welcome, they know where to come.

It just shows you the mentality of it all, the thread has been locked...lol

I'm suprised it was only locked.

There seems to be a "oo, we daren't say to much" on the other forum.

Everyone seems scared to say anything. Plus, the chairman/committee etc... are prasied at every point.

I can't read it, all the treacle clogs my keyboard up.

When the Drivers Club was wound up I think BMWCC obtained the membership list and sent out letters inviting BMWDC members to switch to the CC.  I resisted at the time as I was sick of the politics from a few years previously with the M Power Club.

I then actually took up membership again earlier this year as all seemed to be improving or so I thought. Little did I know!  Within a week the kangeroo courts started and its seem they are still going on.  I'll not be renewing next year for sure.

Thats rubbish, The main reason nothing is being said anymore is because most people just want to move on now. No disrespect to Killian and the guys but whats happened has happened and is not likely to change, and I'm sure that they will be the first to agree that in spite of whats happened people should not start slagging off the members in general because they choose to use the new forum or remain members of the club. The club has been around since 1952, long before most members were born. Chairmen and committees come and go and will continue to do so but the club will remain in some form or another. The situation has not stopped us using this forum if we want to and most of us do want to use it still . But rather than be sitting in front of my PC going over the same ground again and again I want to be discussing doing things with the club and people in the club who are my mates. Why not come and join us, tomorrow, Oulton Park BMW Kumho Championship. There is no chairman ,no committee. no forums, just a bunch of petrol heads who happen to be in the BMW car club having a good time watching some great motor racing. Thats what the club is about. Come and enjoy yourself, I know I will be.

Nor me, the chairman has spoilt the club for me, why should I wish to move on and give him victory ?

I in all honesty have tried to move on. However, between letters and magazine articles containg blatant lies, solicitors letters demanding ridiculous things, apparent contact with BMW AG, expulsion, etc. Im finding it difficult to get past the hurdles being put in front of me.
The chairman and secretary have overstepped the mark numerous times and the rest of the committee are sitting on their arses watching all of this and not taking the chairman to task over it is not acceptable to me.
At this stage I have lost interest in the club as an organisation. I don't want to be a part of it bit Im not telling others what to do - I don't really care what happens it now.

Is it childish? Maybe, I don't care really.

No one seems to dare to comment. Very odd. Some forum!

Steven - I appreciate your balanced approach to this and your remarks that the heart of club membership / forum usage is about being BMW / car enthusiasts are laudable.

That said, is it not also apparent to you that there is more to this than folk disagreeing over fora? Why have 2 BMWCC members been asked to attend a National Committee meeting to make representations that they should not be forcibly removed from the club? Why has the club chairman twice brought the matter up in print after it should have been laid to rest? Why has the 'disillusioned of Yorkshire' matter been handled in a way different from that in which it would have been handled in the past?

I had in the past defended the club and thought tales passed on were exaggerated or due to personality clashes. They were not. There is something seriously wrong at the heart of the club. There has to be where 3 regions and a register that I know of are seriously disgruntled.

Perhaps Jeff's posts don't light your fire Pete, but there was a point there... I have dealt with Andrew in the office a few times and we have got on well - what needed to be achieved was achieved.

That said, the situation Andrew describes regarding Gaydon very much sounds like someone who took on too much. I have volunteered in the past to assist with a couple of things and this has never been taken up. I'm sure there are many folk who would not only have been willing, but also keen to step in and help had they only been asked. Frankly I'm always disappointed the Chairman schedules so much of his time to 'work' at Gaydon, rather I think it's his best and perhaps only chance to speak face-to-face to members outwith the NC and his own region, a chance missed every time I've been down
