Getting green stuff pads from OTTO tomorrow.

Wondering if I should go for dot 5.1 brake fluid, too.

Can anyone tell me what difference it makes, would it be worthwhile, and how much of it would be needed for an e39?

Thanks.

David.

1st, do you know ludo is offering a discount on EBC stuff?

I'd put in new brake fluid. Not sure if the 5.1 will help with the lap times but it can't do any harm. (or can it?)

It will definately help with such a heavy car, higher boiling point is always better.

I'm thinking more road than track.

Ludo - how much for dot5.1 for 3 e39's?

I wouldn't put 5.1 in. There are some compatability issues with DOT4 and I have heard that it recommended that the brake system is flushed before changing.

Personally, unless there is a specific problem with you brake fluid, then no need to change.

There is also ATE Super 200 or ATE Super Blue which are uprated DOT4 which have a good reputation. I use a Castrol DOT4 and don't have any problems - but I do replace the brake fluid annually and bleed a bit off every 6 months.

I dont have brake fluid on offer, but 5.1 should be around 12-15€/L. I bought mine from the US for 10$.

DOT4 and DOT 5.1 are fully compatible I believe, DOT 5 is not and should NOT be used with stock brake lines.

For the pads if you can wait for a couple of weeks I can sort you out. If you are i a hurry do you want me to send you a quote for your pads that you could use with otto to get the price down a bit?

Ludo - that'd be great, thanks.  Digweed's been on to them, and I don't know what kind of a deal he's struck.
