Harrogate show finished today unfortunatly (Great Yorkshire Show).

There's a big meeting I think at the race course if horse raceings your thing?

As I said there is TOTB at Elvington on the 29th I think (Sunday)

Malham is quite nice at this time of year, so is Brimham rocks (bit further out of York tho')

Oh, and there is the York Eye (or whatever they call it) next to the National Rail Museum - same as the London Eye but a bit smaller..

Great Yorkshire Show is on at the mo in Harrogate. Lots to see and do in York (on foot). Have a walk round the Bar Walls if it isn't raining (good way of escaping the tourists and getting from a to b faster )

The museum gardens offer a few things apart from the museum there is a ruined abbey. There is the Jorvic Viking Centre.

end of the month there is TOTB at elvington aerodrome.

Plenty of pubs etc. Just depends on what you want.

I know everything there is to know about Yorkshire (he said modestly). What kind of thing do you like doing? Walking? Driving (obviously)? Mountain biking? Visiting ancient monuments? Castle Howard? A day on the North York Moors steam railway (Britain's most successful heritage railway?

August 1 is Yorkshire Day, and I'll be celebrating with my fellow Yorkshire Society members at an all-day bun-fight in Penistone.

Two tips: You can always tell a Yorkshireman. But you can't tell him much.

Never ask a man if he's from Yorkshire. If he is, he'll tell you anyway. If he isn't, why embarrass the poor chap by asking?
