Firstly, big thanks to Paul (M3CSL) for letting me have his BBS LM's 
Just had them fitted with 10mm spacers all round and new PS2's in 235/35 and 265/30. I can't quite believe how much increasing the front track by only 20mm improves the handling. Tyres are now fully bedded in and all feels good.
One thing though, with the spacers, the rears are fine but I can't quite decide if the front wheels stick out too much? The tyre wall sits just outside the wheel arch but there are no rubbing issues. Here's a few pics, not the best but hopefully you can see what I mean:
As ever, any thoughts appreciated.

If you look at most cars like Teddy etc they all sit the same,so it looks ok

Only thing is, if they stick out past the wheel arches of the car would it pass an MOT?

i think its only sharp edges or potentially hot objects such as side-exit exhausts that protrude and could cause injury if the car is parked and some dozy person walks into them are an mot failure, i would think wheels are safe enough - you see road-legal monster trucks

PROTRUDING WHEELS
I have recently purchased a set of alloy wheels from [a retailer] for my Ford Focus ST170 [who in turn fitted them to my car].
They appeared to be look a wider fitment than the original standard wheel even though they were the same size, 215/45/17, and were visibly protruding beyond the wheel arch on the front by approximately 5-6mm. They have also been catching the wheel arches on the front when going over speed ramps or bigger bumps in the road. A local MOT Testing Station could not clarify whether this protrusion was classed as illegal so I would hope you could provide clarification? Steven Jewitt
As I understand the situation the only way the MOT is affected is if your new wheels actually foul the bodywork or any other part of the vehicle when the wheels are turned lock to lock when the vehicle is sitting in its normal position.
Remember too that your vehicle has to comply with 'construction and use' regulations which are not necessarily the same as the regulations regarding the MOT. Unfortunately we are unable to assist you with respect to those requirements. -MOTT

Thanks for all the feedback guys.
Thankfully, MOT isn't an issue for some time so will probably stick with it for the time being. Only problem is, now starting to get stonechips all down the side of the car.

I always thought protruding wheels were illegal full stop.If your testing station can't clarify maybe your local traffic officer will oblige, when he pulls you over for going a little too quickly

that looks spot on, very nice indeed.
they usually only fail MOT if the tread of the tyre is sticking outside the arch, but looking at that it's only the tyre wall that stick's out which shouldn't fail MOT or be illegal.

What would the logic be in banning protruding wheels as the mirrors tend to stick out a bit further anyway?

Wheels really suit the car - I would personally remove the front spacers but that's just my opinion.

Yeah Very nice, but sorry to say i'm not too keen on those wheels!? Just me i think!? But it looks ace appart form that!! Oh and my wheels stick out a bit too but it didn't have any problem with its MOT!!!
