Hi, had some serious bottom end knocking coming from the engine (E36 M3 Evo) in my project. This was the first time it has run since I bought the engine over 9 months ago but have just got the exhaust manifolds on.

On investigation the small end shells, end caps are shot big time and the crank has been damaged as a result. I dont think its worth throwing money at the bottom end as something else could be damaged further up as a result.

Is this a common problem on these engines?

Can any bits be sold off this one like vanos and cylinder head and how much can I expect for the these bits?

Not a happy bunny!!

The bits can be sold off, there are plenty on ebay at the moment, worth keeping an eye on them to see how much they go for.
