323 should give around 11hp and the 150hp 320d will give the same economy at 205hp with no strain extra on the engine.

I think ken forgot to mention that when the car was run by the other dyno place in ireland with the bonnet open like i said it should be and in 5th gear like i said it should be the same car gave another 7hp.

Didn't forget to mention anything Jayson. All my runs were done exactly the same way, on the exact same rolling road, so they are/were completely consistent, and more importantly, accurate and factual.
As a fully paid up club member, I believe that people should have independent figures rather than those from the company who provided the remap. |

Just to add, given your logic - my power run figures would have been:
Standard: 199.8 (+ 7) = 206.8 With New exhaust: 206.7 (+ 7) = 213.7 With Remap: 207.8 (+ 7) = 214.8 Power gains from remap still equal 1.1, and my car would have been 14BHP over stated figures as standard. I'll leave it at that, because this has been going round in circles for months. Edited by kdevitt |

Im happy to keep things in the open ken, stops all the crap being emailed too and fro if you get me If gains are good then the mapper is great, if gains are not as expected then the mapper is sh*t. It could NEVER under any circumstances be the car in ANY way.

Fair enough - well then I guess it all depends on how your raise peoples expectations Jayson - the 12 BHP you just 'guestimated' in this thread for a 328ci owner is way and above what I got, by almost 11BHP, which is just about no gain. (I was told my car was put in the highest state of tune possible). The power loss another member got was also way below what he expected I'd imagine. The live remap to be done by driving the car, was in fact a generic remap done while the car sat there with the engine ticking over. Read last post Was it good value for a generic remap? , yes. But if I offered you a new Ferrari for 10K, and then delivered a new Hyundai Coupe you'd feel slightly misled, even if it was still a good deal. You did hit the nail on the head though - if the car has decent gains, you are a god. If the results aren't good, theres no way your remap is to blame, it always has to be something else for some reason. As for my car, its running perfectly with 50k on the clock - you're more than welcome to pay for Joe Duffys BMW to do an inspection if you're in doubt - last diagnostics run returned zero errors - even after I butchered the stereo wiring . I honestly don't think its a factor it the poor result. As you said yourself, remapping the E46 cars is mainly about removing flat spots and improving throttle response. My experience agrees completely with that, flat spot gone, throttle response improved (flat spot is clear from my dynos) - as you said on BMW Car Mag forums, it is easy enough to get power out of the E36, but very difficult to get anything out of the E46 - the remapping day we had would have seemed to provided conclusive evidence to back up your point - all E36 and Turbodiesel drivers were delighted, N/A E46 owners and E39 owner slightly nonplussed. As I said, its your point that was proved, I don't see why you can't just tell E46 owners that you can't guarantee power gains, only removal of flat spots etc. As for me getting heated over this - most people know I didn't pay for the remap, so its not to do with feeling I've wasted money. Having pushed the event heavily through several sites (boards.ie, cruiseirl.com, racershaven.com, irishperformancecars.com, bmwcarmagazine.com) and waxed lyrical about ChippedUk, I felt responsible when people weren't happy with the results, felt it was my repuation on the line, and felt like an idiot when cars gained little or nothing, or lost power. I think only you were unpleased though. I did the work on your car and i never once mentioned live mapping, it would have been impossible for me to do this in irlenad without the equipment needed. I never bought an emulator with me so even road mapping would of been nie on immpossible. I did what i came over to do, help martin out and do some remapping. Everyone that had remaps/chips got good value for money with the cheapest maps/chips in ireland. The only problem i ever had with this issue was that nothing came out about you or anyone being unhappy untill i found out about martin !!! He is not here to discuss this and this matter is in the hands of my solicitors so i cant openly talk about this subject but you know what im talking about. |

Its an approved state of tune. Similar to a kyte mark on a uk product verifying that its a safe level. |

What about a 1989 635CSI?
I believe these run very weak as standard & a remap works wonders for driveability. How are power & economy affected? |

Yes, and depending on the ecu 20hp is possible. The power was ripped from the big6 engine due to massive tax charges in the late 80`s. |

The 635 & 735 were quoted as having 220bhp while the 535 had only 211bhp. Believe this was so that the 5-series didn't out perform the 7-series. How does the rechip/remap affect economy? What price is the upgrade? |
