idle air valve

   I was reading an article about buying the Sport Evo last night and it mentioned if you see a car with an idle speed of 1100 rpm then the idle air valve is dead and needs replacing.

My E30 Evo 2 idles at 1100 rpm so presumably I have the same trouble.

Is this the most likely cause and can it be repaired? If not how easy is it to replace it?

	A usual indictaion that the idle air valve is dead is the engine starts hunting on idle. I think they cost about �100 to buy but are a little tricky to replace. Let me know how you get on.

	Engine seems smooth enough, it doesn't hunt when idling, it's just that the speed seems too high

	Not that tough to do although one of the star bolts jobbies to get the inlet manifold off is a bit of a turd to get to, I have a spare idle control valve that I replaced off my std E30 M3 which turned out to be fine which you can have if you like in return for a small donation to a charity of your choice, as I have no M3 any more it's just taking up space in the garage.
