it's not actually a mustang, its a mk1 sierra xr4i, although i agree the front end does bear a resemblance, mainly due to the headlights.... the american equivalent would be the Merkur XR4Ti basically the same car but with a 2.3L 4-cyl Turbo engine instead of the XR4i's normally aspirated 2.8 V6 |

stephen, I hope my lesson serves the community. Nice stang! How do you like it? We have 4 of them here at the hangar. Based on the skid marks on the ramp I would save the night shift has time on their hands. Edited by FloridaBMW |

Sadly my response was too slow to recognize the scratching sound made by embedded debris in my polishing cloth. When I heard it my brain was too slow to dis-engage the arm. Now I have 3 lovely oval shape gouges in my hood (oops, bonnet)! But on the bright side...wait, there is no bright side! Edited by FloridaBMW |

Your car looks amazing! I agree. Try the bug and tar or use a spray lubricant. Whatever you do, you might want to follow up with wax. I am in the process of claying my black E46. From all the research I have done the claying is the first step. In addition to that I am using 2 polishes (in sequence), a molecular agent (FMJ), a finishing glaze and then wax. It is a real time consumer. Thus far the results are great. BUT, the over-spray from aircraft painting (white specks all over my car) are not coming off. I am using a very fine clay at the moment. The Meguiars did a great job but on the dark paint it was a little rough. Make sure to keep the surface wet & wet. I mixed a solution of P21S car shampoo (3 drops) and alot of water in a spray bottle. Works well as a clay lubricant. I bought all the products from a company in New York and they have a great site full of instructions. http://www.detailedimage.com/howto.html Additionally there is the DIY section here http://www.bimmerdiy.com/diy/detailing I found both of these helpful and as soon as the fires die down here I plan to finish the car. One more thing. Don't drink beir while you are doing this . The voice of experience talking here. Edited by FloridaBMW |

Try Halfords bug & tar remover first-this gets rid of loads of stuff though you do need to use your thumb nail too!!
The stuff I got was Meguiars Quick Clay and cost about £12 IIRC again from Halfords. John |

No I don't......reversings never been easier and nobody parks near my rear end anymore for fear of the scud-like protrusion from the rear end.
Oh I havent got round to zymoling the towbar yet!!! Clay bar is meant ot remove 'bonded contaminants'. Not sure what they are but it got rid of all the swirls and the paintwork felt as smooth as glass. easy enough to do too. |

Is that clay bar the stuff you use to get paint and tar spots off your car?
