At last after 10 hours of pattern making and trimming and bending, I have finally completed the first E46 Induction kit.

These heatshields will be laser profiled, and lined with the same high spec insulation material as the E36 ones. They will also use the same Genuine K&N cone filter rated upto 600BHP
Shown below fitted to a 325 coupe. 8)

The diiference between the E46 and the E36 is huge, and the E46 heatshield was a nightmare.

E46 325i Coupe:

Below, the existing E46 Airbox:

As you can see, this cold air feed is TINY, just 12MM wide

This is the other feed to the stock airbox

Not that big, and as it takes air from directly above the hot radiator, Ceratinly not ideal for feeding "Cold" air to the airbox.

Lots of testing to be done yet, including a 500 mile round trip to Cornwall. But first impressions based on the standard set up are that the performance gains will be equally as good, if not better than those achieved on the E36 kits due to the restrictions in the standard airbox.

E36 kits will always be available, and I hope to be able to offer this kit for the entire E46 range in a few weeks, after I have carried out all my testing.

The E46 M3 kit may even yield some extra mods yet.

Cheers Dave.F 8)

I have alot of testing to do yet, and maybe some mods, but I give you my word, that I will not offer to sell a single kit until I am 100% happy that it performs as well as the E36 kits have.

Sounds great - I would be really interested in hearing your thoughts on performance gains for a 330ci.

Eventually the entire E46 range will be available, but its a slow progress Im afraid. There are so many variations of AFM's etc... that I need to do lots of home work to get the info I need. I will not send out anything until ive tried it and I know it fits.

Are you providing dyno tested results, or is it "seat of the pants" dyno?

The E36 kits have been dyno'd to death, typical gains are around the 13-15BHP mark, however some 3.0 M3 owners have seen 21BHP gains tested back to back within minutes of each other.

E46 kits will eventually hit the Dyno, but with the data collected from the E36 design, I am 100% confident that the E46 range will deliver just as well
