Cool! I didn't have my M3 two years ago, but I did have one about six years ago, which I did track at Castle Combe and Thruxton. I maybe about on Monday, but at my work. Are you going to the track day next Saturday (22nd April)? My car is going on the E30 register pitch Be good to say hi!

Was this about 7.45 this morning? If so it was me in my Evo2 . Followed a green Impreza estate off up the slip road.

Twice on the way back from the Ring I got pulled over by a white Pug estate with four French Police/Customs whatever with sub machineguns.....asking where i was going where had i been etc but eventually let me go
it was only after the second time did it occur to me the possible reason - I had put a Northern Ireland "personal number" on the car with Scottish Flags and a load of wheels where the back seat should have been.....covered by a blanket!!!!!
now that i trailer it i have never been stopped

From the DVLA website:
'You must display the disc on the near side (passenger side) of your vehicle’s windscreen'.
I guess anything left of centre would comply with that. Stick it up to the left of the rear view mirror and they can't touch you

the old m3's stand out a mile, saw the second one i have ever seen on the roads today, east of bristol, got off at junction 18 m4. i could spot it from about half a mile on the motorway. I got pullled a few times in just the 325 convertible, and they ended up having nothing to ask about driving etc, just wanted to ask about the bloody car! lol.
also think i got had on the m4 by the bloody bridge camera in my nasty renault van yesterday! gggrrrr

Thanks for that Jonny, I live in Stone and use both these roads regularly. What's the crack with silver cars now, the police seem to be getting more and more of them? I've seen a silver one series in Stafford with police stripes but no top light (sneaky in the rear view mirror).
|
Alright mate, i live in yarnfield, might see you around, whats your motor?
The silver 1 series you saw is not strictly a patrol car, its one of those community police vehicles, it goes round schools and stuff doing talks and the like but it can still pull you if he feels like it!
I have a mate who is a special and he told me that the silver cars are these community police vehicles.

I've got an E28 M5 in Lachs Silver. Bought it over a month ago now, still waiting for new ft calliper pistons (it's a long story).
Can't believe I haven't seen you around, not exactly common motors, I'll pm you when my motor's running & maybe meet up?

The tax is placed on the nearside of the car so that any traffic warden/police office can read it without having to step foot in the road!!
I have not been pulled over in my own car since 1992 when I had an RS Turbo, I was pulled over simply because the copper wanted to have a look too, as he was thinking of getting one - He was quite pleasant, should have told him he had a side light out though!

I've got my tax disc on the 'wrong' side too, as has been said, if I get pulled and anything is mentioned about it, then I argue that it is hampering my vision!
The law for the location of the tax disc comes from when it was first introduced, so the bobby on the beat could read it easily enough from the roadside.

I was stopped in my Europa once at 3am (after a Sat night out) I dont drink atall if I am driving, so get landed sometimes as a taxi! Just dropped my mates off and was heading back home. I saw a police car comming upto the roundabout I just went round and I saw him in my mirrors, he drove past the roundabout, then turned round and gave chase to me. I pulled over and got out. The copper came upto me and said "Is that a real one?" "Oh, sorry, you havn't done anything wrong, I just wanted to have a look" and we were there chatting about 15 minutes, shook my hand and said goodnight! Real nice chap!

Could be worse, think about the old lady that got fined for crossing the road too slowly.
