Hi All,

Been browsing this forum for a while.  Ive just inherited a BMW 635 CSi Highline from my great aunt - she purchased it new and its covered just 35k miles.  It has a small amount of rust on the original front wings - this is the only thing that really needs sorting out before it gets any worse.  I will be fitting new wings which have been ordered.

Here is a pic.....

Just replaced the TRX tyres to keep the car in its original state.  It drives like new, interior looks and smells new.....its like driving in a timewarp....!

Few small problems/imperfections to sort out, cruise control doesnt work, front wings to be replaced/repainted, some small scuffs of body bumper pieces......

Any input on above welcomed......

Cheers

Paul

A bit late to tell you but if the rust is just behind the indicators it can be repaired easily. Better than forking out a grand +painting!

Lovely looking car by the way. If you're going to use it more than 35k miles in the next 17 years you should think about getting it waxoyled.

Any pics of the interior?

Paul, I'd agree with AndyS. Repair wings (and definitely get car waxoyled )and use the money saved on other things which may have perished, seized, etc (brake rubbers, rad hoses, etc) whilst laid up.

I had a minor repair done on one of my wings almost 10 years ago and it it still OK now. Mind you, I've only done about 5,000 miles in that time, a bit like your car !!

I've had mine done, new metal & lead loaded. Bodyshop reckoned the rest of the wings were solid. I know I'll have to get some new wings at some point but not just yet.

As Steve says, some things will need recommissioning after standing about.

Very nice looking car, must be one of the lowest mileage 635's around. What colour's the leather interior?

Hi,

The car has not been laid up, well not until she suddenly passed away at Christmas.  So only been out of use until Feb (couple of months), which was when it was MOT'd and released from the estate.

Leather interior is silver/grey, electric/mem/heated seats.  No pics on net but will post one tomorrow.

The wings had gone at the back of the wheel arches.  I get substantial discount from BMW so it wasnt too bad.  And due to the nature of the cars condition/history I wanted to replace the wings.

In 2 minds whether to sell on and invest money or just keep it at the moment.

Any idea of a value for it?

Thanks Paul

Assuming the wings, scuffs and all other minor things are sorted, and it really is as mint as it appears to be then it should go for top money.

Its the milleage that sets it out, I would have thought that around 8-10K was achievable? maybe with the right buyer even more.

The problem with really low mileage cars is that their value is very sensitive an extra miles put on them. This could put people off unless they would really only use it occasionally.

I would say it's worth £10K +/ - 2K.

If you sell the car it might be worth putting in an auction of pedigree. Last year i witnessed an Alpina B9 with 20K go for £19K at a Bonhams auctions at Olympia.

Loverly car. However as it's been laid up to make perfect they may well be a lot of bushes and rubber parts that will need replacing, but on a car like this it will be worth it.

There's a similar car on Autotrader at the moment for about £7.5K but with double the miles... but then it is a trader and they won't necessarily get anywhere near that price.

It's a very nice spec and very original so I agree with Shem - on the right day with the right buyer, anything is possible!

But don't sell it, DRIVE IT!

Ha Ha it,d be very unlike me to be too subtle with my opinions!!

Add,s some spice to the forums but! The Big bumpers remind me a little of an M-Tec2 kit on an E30, Not quite as much, just a little as the mtec2 kit made the E30 appearance, The 635 gets away with eithar look,The small bumpers are more Elegant but less aggressive But as i said i think im decided on the aggressive look..

There was a 89 Delphin Grey highline in Sydney for same money as mine at the same time i bought with Grey Leather, There were a fair few dings on it and laquer peeling in spots as well as major driver seat bolster wear.the other factor was it had o/e 15" rims which was another $3k straight up as im still caught in that teenage Big rim craze!

It was de-chromed highline and 1989 but in the end I choose not to mess around with repainting/retrims ect, Looking at all that list seems like i made the right decision actually,

Another will come my way with time as they do- (Theres probably one for sale right now but im not even going to look i hate that after u buy!

Am not usually one to sit one the fence either, however I am still undecided which looks the best... I would say Highline at the front (meaner) and chrome at the back!! (Although not on the same car - that would be SILLY!)

Hmmm - I think a car with that mileage needs brand
new wings - you may as well make it perfect
because it's going to be a £10'000 car when done.
The colour is the only thing possibly against it
(Cirrus blue) but I wouldn't take a bean less than ten
grand. Spend a few quid on having the leather
reconnolised, new floor mats etc.

That's going to be a stunning car - start out at
£12'000 and chance your arm - you can always
come down and at £10'000 it should sail away. Very,
very few with that mileage now.

I'm going to convince my Gran to buy a new M6.

Best colour for Highline by far; Dolphin grey,
dechromed, black leather.

Job Done.

I mind Misano red a little Common for my taste

cant help thinking the chrome bumper at the rear looks just a little skinny or something, like theres something missing,

If there was such a thing 618i it should have this bumper!

Some have like a skirt underneath the bumper with a cutout for the exhaust but i think its after market and looks a little kitty, the side skirts that match it look truly horrid,

Not sure who makes the kit , looks like posibly something Zender would make, any one know the one im on abt..

Im not going to pass judgment till i see my car dropped 6omm and see if it fills that big gap between bumper an road - i can nearly see right under the back as it is

Havin trouble gettin springs mailed to auz cus of weight

My Dads old Highline was Dolphin grey, but with the chrome and with Lotus white leather. That was a pimp car

I prefer the chrome. Took me a while to find a car that wasn't dechromed...
