Gentlemen.

I recieved this e-mail from another IAM member.

I cant guarantee its accuracy, but better to err on the side of caution and watch the news stories, rather than test it yourself.

I have received some intelligence from a reasonably dependable source
that the new digital automated tracking system between Junctions 3 and 7b on the M42 are scheduled to go live on 1 April.

There are 276 digital cameras set to a 2mph tolerance. You will see no flash - the first you will know will be when the 60 fine arrives!

Are they allowed to set them with a 2mph tolerance? I thought it was 10% +2 always. But 276 scameras?! Surely they could have done with another few?

Expect a massive increase in revenue as motorists unwittingly stray up to a whole 72 mph - be safe and do as I do, watch the speedo not the road!

There doesn't seem to be an obvious reference to fines from speed monitoring?

I drive a private Hire Taxi and spoke to someone in Solihull council last week and it is true the systems go live on the 1st of April, not sure about the tolreance level but there is no legal requirement to the settings required.
