Topic: wheel allignment Posted: 18-March-2006 at 09:10 |
ive fitted some power flex control arm bushes to the car. it states in the instruction to have the wheel allignment/steering geometery checked.
can anyone tell me what the values should be. do the garages which carry out these checks have a chart listing the values to set the car to?
just want to make sure its done correctly.
thanks.

Yes if you take your care to a wheel alignment centre they will have all the necessary data for the make and model of your car, as it done by computer, which will show if its out and what needs adjusting.

just popped into kwik fit and asked about the check.
they said there couldnt do it as beemers need to be weighted down. he showed me the chart and it stated 68kgs in front seats 10kgs in back and 21kgs in the boot.
the bloke said i need to go to a specialist or and accident repair place that has more sophisticated equipment.
the values that they have dont work either as the car has been lowered.
any tips or garages i can try in the north east area?

Sorry to intrude on your thread but, I'm also looking for wheel alignment to be done, hopefully by an indy. Going to lower the car with boge springs, with new powerflex rear bushes also, as the standard ones are begining to show there age.
Just been quoted £213.85 from the local stealers
Does anyone know if Dave at BM Motors does wheel alignment?

if the castor and camber is not adjustable on my car then is it only the toe in/out which can be set up via the track rod ends?
ive read on another forum that ATS can do the correct kind of check but when i rang them he wasnt sure and said he would have to take a look at it on the ramps
also read that accident repair places are good to try as they have the equipment as its needed to check cars out after a crash.

If thats the case then you'd just need the tracking done which most tyre places will do.

alot of places are saying they cant set the toe as the car has been lowered.?
whats this old school method of doing it your self with a metal ruler and 2 bits of fishing line?
can any one tell me?
id rather do it myself than have some joker messing about with it.
