Gutted mate, I know how you feel, only my experience was an un-traced hit and run but looking at her, as long as your chassis and x-members are ok, it should be economical to repair, if not, and the insurance co. want to write it off, do some research into how much it's worth and look on auto trader for similar cars. Don't accept their first figure. I managed to get an extra £300 out of mine but I still think I was done! The insurance guy said to me most of the cars similar to mine were about £3000 but he only offered me £2700. He compared my 540i touring (e34) fully loaded with 6 speed manual to several 525's and 530's with half the toys and auto boxes???? where's the logic in that?

Anyway, she looks worth buying back if it comes to that, especially as you got the new engine.

Good luck mate

Mike

P.S. Look on the bright side, thats another corsa off the road!

Good luck mate, mine didn't look so bad at first, but the chassis was out of line, steering and suspension ruined, and of course much older than yours.

Nearly three years now, I'm told its all settled, ( the git had no insurance), but I still haven't recieved the cheque from the mib.

Best Wishes

Nigel

Not looking good. The guy I spoke to this morning says that just cosmetic damage alone comes to way over their 'immediate repair threshold limit' and that the estimator strongly suspects suspension damage so at the minute the front end is being stripped back and the car's gotta go on the jig before a full quote can be sent to the insurance company.

Sorry to hear that John..gutted for you

If it was mine id want it written off ,just have a “thing” about owning an accident damaged and repaired car..having said that I know you put a new engine in it recently so can understand why you’d want it repaired

Let us know how it goes

Quick update-think my insurance company are mafia-based as they are making a crisis out of a drama!

Apparently the repair costs are up over £6k so was told Wednesday it was being written off and file had been passed to TLSS for final offer value which should be with me by yesterday.

On Thursday I was told that TLSS had the file and I would have an offer as total loss by Friday morning.

At 10am yesterday I was again told that offer would be with me by 4pm yesterday.

At 4.30 yesterday I chased insurance company and now got a different story- I was told then that TLSS only got the file at 2pm yesterday and they hadnt decided whether it would be a total loss or not. Since it was Friday afternoon they wouldnt be looking at the file til Monday so I won't know if its been written off let alone get a final loss offer til Tuesday!!

The only saving grace is that the woman from the insurance company said that 99% of all cases passed to TLSS are written off.

TLSS can be found on this link....

TLSS Total Loss, what d'ya reckon? Doesnt help that I'm meant to be looking at 3-4 cars this weekend.

Why can't companies get things straight these days. No matter what you buy, what work you have done or what is required of who your dealing with, ITS HASSLE!

Kitchen companies, insurers, Car dealers even the damn Solicitors in my case just take the punter as a mug!

I feel for you, I'm going through the mill at this very moment with a solicitor, a major kitchen appliance manufacturor and an insurance company. All for different cases, I've reported the solicitor to the law society, appliance people I'm taking to court and I've just sent a letter to the ombudsman re the insurance company. Where do you draw the line???

No wonder this country has such a high heart attack rate!

Only redeeming feature is I'm still off the fags

Still off the fags-16 days 15hrs, 35mins not that I'm counting. Hope the holiday gets rid of the stresses Loz.

Reckon if I get a 535 then get it without the 17" alloys, leave Alpina spoiler off, leave amber indicators on, whip the 535 badge off and replace it with a 520 badge!!

Oh and thanks about the job-its taken 4 years to get the right offer that's with the right company and should lead to directorship within 18 months!

Sorry to hear about the car pal - and you've not had it that long

Old biddies p!55 me off - one pulled out at me today in a farty little hyundai think and then tooted his horn at me because he didn't know where he was going - I would have loved to push him off the road

Anyway, just hope the insurance is quick and gets on with the payout so you can get a nice newer one

Repairs are now over 6k?!! What on earth are they doing - replacing the damaged bodywork with hand beaten gold? I can't believe for a second it would be that much, my car had similar if not worse damage and the repair bill was 2.5k. It was an older car, but labour rates are labour rates, regardless of the age. Never mind, if they do write it off make sure you push for a proper valuation, the initial figure will be similar to being slapped with a halibut. Hold out and squeeze as many £££s as you can out of them. Then get off and buy yourself a tasty replacement.

I can see the cosmetic and fixing parts circa £2500 but that is before sorting any suspension damage if there is any then you've got labour for spraying and fitting. We'll see hopefully tomorrow.
