Can anyone shed some light on this problem for me please.

I was driving through the city, which is unusual for me, but whilst sat in traffic at the lights my car started to feel all rough and felt like it was slighty rocking (i think the engine was kangorooing) and then the engine cuts out. But starts like normal after!!

This only does this when the the car is up to temperature (halfway mark) and moving slow around the town. Any ideas?? Cheers in advance

That sounds like a fuel evaporation problem. Check that none of the fuel lines are running very close to exhaust manifolds or other hot bits. Depends on the car of course, it could be something like a coil breaking down when hot, or a rotor arm arcing, or some other electronic component affected by temperature. You do say it cuts out, then starts instantly? Hmmm. Perhaps that discounts the fuel problem, and also the coil breaking down as these typically take 20 mins to clear themselves. I'd be looking at electrical faults. What car is it? Manual or auto?

The car is a 523i se, Auto. its done highmilege @ 135K.

I had just been to have a new battery fitted and was burning around the streets of bath and i was shunting in and out od a tight parking space and i could feel the car struggling to run. Ive mentioned b4 that i still need to replace my CAT, as i get the intermittant loss of power, do you think this maybe related to my new problem..?
