yep, don't let Toby anywhere near it!
Joke aside, I think you should use the 2 pack window mastik stuff used for the windshield.

I think Nick is right by saying the MILTEK is the perfect exhaust system for an everyday M3. Doesn't LOOSE power, is SS and a very good price. I wish it would be a twin pipe layout (only for ground clearance issues) but I can imagine this could never be done for the price they're selling it! I would buy one if I would be shopping for an aftermarket exhaust. The Supersprint may give more power, but not everyone will accept the increase in noise just for a few more horses. BTW how much is a full Supersprint system??? |
How can Scorpion produce a stainless system which is twin pipes all the way through, for similar (or less?) money?

I have welded one last year. It's thin like a can of beans......
And does not the market dictate the price??
I don't think that the EISENMANN needs to be so expensive, but people pay for the name.
If you search throught this forum you will find a lot of messages about bursted Miltek centre sections. I bet that wasn't planned by Miltek when the calculated the sale price. I am very surprised that they still sell it for the same price.

I removed a scrapiron exhaust from my car (was bought with it) about 6 months ago, it had 4 cracks, all in different places along the centre section, very poor quality, and the system was only 4 years old, and had only seen about 15thou miles.
Car was also rolling roaded when the system was fitted, and allthough I haven't had it RR'd since removal, it was down by 25bhp compared to 2 more E30 M3's on the day.

Ok, I'll stop being mean...
Milltek made almost identical flywheel power to standard but recoreded a slightly lower wheel power figure. |
Sorry to dig this up again, but I was thinking of a change of exhaust so I re read the thread and mag and I have come to some interesting conclusions.
After applying the correction factors from each graph to the WHEEL figures things don't as rosey for the Supersprint race system.
The sums...
Corrected Power / Power = correction factor
Wheel power * correction factor = corrected wheel power
Stock: 212 / 204.1 = 0.9627 146.7RWHP * 0.9627 = 141.23RWHP corrected
Milltek: 209 / 209.5 = 0.9976 142.5RWHP * 0.9976 = 142.15RWHP corrected
Supersprint: 210.2 / 218 = 0.9642 149.1 * 0.9642 = 143.76RWHP corrected
So, the stock system is difficult to improve on at this power level. The Milltek beasts it by less than 1HP and the Supersprint "Race" is only 2.5 HP better. It does have to be said though, that the Supersprint does beef up the torque from 2400-3300 which is usefull and would probably be less of a restriction as the power goes up.
Thought I'd share that with you all

chiming in late...I had the standard Supersprint exhaust fitted to my old Cecotto (mild stainless steel) and could not fault it, apparently it is the nearest to OE spec on the market, it sounded fabulous whilst not being any louder than original and was great value for money. I have no idea whether it gave any power gains but I thought it was great, no quality issues, a tried and tested system...

We're the UK distributor for Milltek BMW in the Uk so we normally
always have stock. The centre section was re-designed about 18 months
ago so sits higher and avoids the centre baffles going (we offer a no
quibble replacement on centre sections if they have problems).
Would be interested in a doing a pre/post power run with a Milltek
fitted on our dyno for test purposes if anyone was interested?

They still go though.... i had a new design system,
and the welds of the pipes into the centre silencer
had cracked right through.
Got a new section direct from Miltek no questions,
excellent service was at my door in no time.

Unfortunatly, I got mine second hand and the rear box is rattling like a good un. No warrenty for me , so I'm after a new system.
Still have my original to do a back to back test and I can correct AFR for any flow differences with the Motec.
So how about a deal Thorney
