Not that I'm proud of using small amounts of petrol - far from it, but this is quite impressive I think.

I made the mistake of driving to Manchester via Leeds from London - without my wallet!!

Needless to say, in Manchester I realised and had to be very careful on the throttle to get home OK.

I was astonished that I could travel at about 70MPH and still average 41MPG over the trip from Manchester to London - pretty good aye?

Total for the tank was 470 Miles, the last few a little scared.

Can anyone better that?

Fine effort! Never tried to be that fuel-conscious... best I managed was a 34mpg - you need to get yourself to one of the club economy runs!

Nice one... With the most careful Mway driving, Manchester - Aberdeen 27mpg!!!! That's not bad since its only does 14-18 mpg to the shops!!!

The best I did was during the petrol shortage a few years back, M3 3.0 approx 39mpg.
we're the Sweeney son, and we ain't had our dinner.....

Wallet back in pocket, all is back to mormal now, still about 33MPG with motorway driving at 80 most of the way.

Does anyone have consumption figures for a 99 318iS Auto?

Im in the process of buying one at the moment so I would be interested in this.
