I remember on the old E30, that genuine Sports had an anthracite headlining.  Don't know whether they did anything like this on the E34.

Looks good regardless!

Sport models should have full OBC, basiclly a sport car is SE spec except for the kit ,LSD,seats as mentioned and suspension

..and i believe it should have sport on the log book, mine does

Great looking car thou' Jim..and the cossie...i had one for a bit...smashed it to bits in Dunstable....was a sad day...

I would take it into the local dealers with the last 7 digits of the VIN number (Should read something like BJ12345) and they should verify if it is a genuine sport or whether its a standard SE. If SE is the case they will be able to say what options were fitted at build.

I think it could be a proper sport. Not all sports I've seen have stated sport on the v5. It has the sports seats with the wind out thigh boulsters and it does seem to sit right. The only thing I'm not sure on is whether the full on sport had the trip computer as standard which yours does not.

Please let us know when you find out.........I'm intrigued now.

hi,i have a 1990 e34 sport and my reg certificate, log book sounds so much better,states535i sport auto. however, your car looks just like mine and i don't think you can rely on whats on the log book 100%.

as for the suspension the car i think sits lower than std suspension and rides awhole lot firmer.pot holes to be avoided!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Stephen : Yep, it's quite a beast, but I only use it for shows and track days....Very rarely on the road, but it takes alot of care when you use all the power.

Noticed the XR4i in your siggy, hard to tell from pics, but it does look nice, but I'd rather take the B10. This is my first real venture into BMW's, had an old E30 320 before, but this is the first nice one I've had. Enjoying it alot, it's actually nice to drive a nice looking sedate car as opposed to the cossie.

428bhp (Proven) at Re-Worx Rolling Road in Portsmouth. Engine built by Norris Motorsport, Quaife Box, and Diff, Koni Suspension, AP 335mm Brakes and 4 Pot Calipers. 8X17 Hockenhiem Wheels and Yoko Tyres. Interior absolutely standard, as is the bodywork. 49,0000 miles from new, and I've owned it since 1991 when I bought it as a high milage two year old car.

Anyway.....Back to the BMW, any ideas how I can tell if it's fitted with M-Tech Suspension, and how to confirm its a genuine Sport Model. On the log book it states "525 i SE"........... Is that normal, or should it state 525 IS as the boot badge indicates ??? Anyone with a sport can check their logbook and see what it says. ???

Jim Green - Don't know if it is a good idea publishing your full VIN, so I've deleted it for just now.

I think the link Grahame is trying to point you to is RealOEM ?

This was the original advertisment on E-bay...... and on seeing the car I made him an offer which he accepted. I've been a concourse entrant with my Cosworth, so knew what I was looking at, but not being an experienced BMW Owner didn't know how to confirm it was a genuine sport. If it's not, then to be honest I'm not too bothered, as I bought it to be my everyday car...... If it is a genuine Sport Version, (Which I'm inclined to think it is) then I've done very well.

Any help, or advice as to how I can confirm if it's a genuine Sport, will be greatly appreciated.

car looks great, the m-parallels are some of the best wheels for the e34 imo

have you got any pictures to upload of your cossie?  3-door or sapphire?

The "Rubbers" on the bottom of the doors, appears to be plastic, not rubber ???

Hi Graham, Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't find where to enter a VIN Number on that web site.  Maybe you can help me out.

Vin Number is : ***************

I bought this car off E-Bay about two weeks ago, and put a couple of bids on it, before i met up with the owner and saw and drove the car. It drives like a new car with no faults whatsoever. Having been a Cosworth Sierra owner for the last 14 years (And Still Am), it was so nice to drive a car without worrying if something is about to go wrong. The BMW is a total delight to drive.

Although not fool proof, when people paint the sills, bumpers and put the spoiler on the boot, they normally omit to change the rubbers along the bottom of the doors, like the one in the picture below

Best Wishes

Try typing your vin no into OEM.com and it should show which parts were fitted to your car i.e any specific M tech parts. Ace car by the way.

Just bought this absolutly mint 525 Sport, but how do I confirm it's a genuine Sport Model......... As on the log book it states 525 SE ????

If it's not a sport, then I'm still over the moon with it, it's almost in concourse condition and with a full BMW Service History.

It has the full M-Tech Body Kit, M-Tech Instruments/Dash, and supposedly M-Tech Suspension..... How do I confirm the suspension ????
