How old are you?

How long have your been in a 5 Series?

Thanks for helping satify my curiosity.

Yes I started him with the Mantas (the black one was Mine) and the first XR4X4 was mine, shame I can't switch him to BMW. He has this strange thing about his Subaru that has eaten 1 engine and 1 turbo so far!!! and mus be due a gearbox soon.

I'm 34 and currently on my third Beemer.

Started off with a silver E36 318i (which anyone who watches Coronation Street would have seen a few months ago being driven through a fence by that gunman who was chasing Steve McDonald - I had it on Ebay and Granada bought it !!!).

Fancied somthing bigger, so got a E34 525i SE (which is still sat on my drive, till I get round to selling it). I then got a chance to buy my E39 540iA quite cheaply, and I'm sooooo glad I did buy it, as it's the best car I've ever had.

No old man here !!

Well I'm on to my second e28, bought the first one just over a year ago. Traditionally bought by middle aged businessmen who play golf, I'm cruising around in a big leather armchair on wheels while all my mates tear around in Saxos and Corsas. I turned 24 a couple of months ago, but I reckon I'm an old man before my time! As Terry Wogan once said, 'Slow and steady wins the race'. That's my philosophy anyway.

Well I was 21 and 5/6ths when I bought a Vauxhall Senator CD 3.0i 24v.  My mate joked about that I should have a tartan rug on the back seat until he was a passenger in the car and saw its performance!

It had previously been owend by two guys in their 50's.  But it had the performance of a car owned by folk considerably younger.

I was 26 when I bought my E39, I'm now 27 1/2.

Well I am 39 but about 16 in mind.

I have owned 3 5 series since last year & love em.

At the end of the day if you worry about stigmatisms that other people attach to cars you will miss out-ignore them & do whatever you want-you cannot drive a better car pound for pound than a 5 series (get a sport if you can)

Well I was 42 when I got my E34 & 46 when I got the 635. Presently 48 (on the outside) but about 28 on the inside!

Don't think a 5-series is an old mans car at all. A more mature mans maybe . . .

On the subject of Opel Mantas I used to have a 1900 Manta Luxus, one of the last produced before the Cavalier shape came out. I loved it. Rebuilt it from the ground up but it was burnt out in 1983.

Here it is circa 1982.

Ignoring the grille, does anyone else notice the similarity between the front end & that of a E9 CSI/CSL? Look at the line of the wings & bonnet etc.
