A non-BMW garage that can be trusted with my new toy actually, apologies for the confusion...I thought that "indie" (seen in other replies) was the standard description for a non-BMW garage.

Give mell a break, she's only just managed joined up handwriting so big words are still a challenge

Speak to Kevin at Treadwise in Shore Lane (up the side of Shore Porters at the harbour) on 01224-572956.  Tell him I sent you!

Kevin is an ex John Clark mechanic and is the ONLY bmw indie I'd trust in this town.

And what exactly is your new toy...?

Many thanks all for the advice, this is a great site for the uninitiated and the ignorant (ie me !)

I presume that's an E34 if she's an old girl.  The 525 is considered the best all round package for that range with decent performance and economy.

Have a look on the scottish region forum - quite a number of people on there are based in Aberdeen and meet up every few months when it's not so cold...

Likewise, treadwise are the only independent i would trust, i have been to "the others" and they are certainly not to be trusted

Well unless you dont mind false diagnosis of problems to make you spend more, your engine being wrecked due to previous point, keeping your car for 7 weeks, having misc pieces of trim hanging off when its returned, putting your car in for a two hour job and get it back two days later, kerbed alloys, damaged front spoilers etc

Or if thats not enough to put you off, nearly having your driveshaft part from your diff at 70mph because they didnt loctite the bolts back in place....need i go on....by the way they are on hutcheon st

I agree with the Hutcheon Street comment!!!!!!!!

For gearboxes, have not used them myself, but was recommended to me----Aberdeen Automatics, not sure where they are, try the phone book. Understand that is where John Clark get their gearbox problems sorted out.
