Getting a steady clicking from the rear of the car under acceleration, increasing speed with the car... Grinding whine when deccelerating... Is my diff screwed?

If so, where the hell would one find an E30 LSD? Can they be bought new? Reconditioned?

I'm a bit miserable now!

Sounds like a diff to me.
Your better off trying to ssource secoond hand one as they tend to be big money. Try the usual bmw part places.
