Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum so hello to you all I've kind of registered here out of desperation with my car really and I wondered if anyone could help me. I'm not very knowledgable about cars if I'm honest so please keep that in mind.
A couple of weeks back I'd left my boot slightly ajar and was off sick the next day so the day after when I got to my car the battery had gone completley flat.
Now like an idiot I'd done the same thing 8 months ago and the AA guy fitted me a new battery. So this time around (it was the same AA guy) he said it is a healthy battery it should be fine to give it a quick charge then just rev the car for 30min and that should charge it back up enough.
I did this, but the car was still losing power dying or coming very close to when I came to idle in traffic. It was at its wrost when almost coming to a stop say at a traffic light then it turning green so then having to pile the acceleration back on. It was still like this for about a week, so the car had ample time to charge up properly.
My BMW garage said he thinks it was a faulty DME Relay that perhaps had been damaged when jumping the car battery. So we replaced that with a new one. That was 3 days ago and the car is running a lot better now throughout a journey, even in stop start traffic in the city. But it still has massive problems when parking the car up, seemingly on very low revs and little busts of small acceleration. The guy at the garage said I'll just have to get used to parking in high revs, but I don't really see how I can do that safely whilst parking!
Sorry for the long post. but if anyone has any suggestions on what it maybe then that'd be great.
Pete
