I am looking for a advice on how to fit the Z3 1.9 gear lever!

Do you mean 'How to fit the gear lever knob?' One assumes your car came with a gear lever - if so, just sit in the car, and try pushing the knob sideways and upwards. It will come off quite easily when you get the technique.

The advice in Bentley etc manuals that it takes an 80 lb vertical pull is nonsense.

Just make sure you don't smack yourself in the face when it (eventually) comes loose!!
