Hello chaps, I'd like to fit some 'proper' suspension to me e34 M5.

It's a '90 3.6 so no EDS to worry about. It does obviously have the SLS though.

Is my best plan to remove the SLS and opt for LEDA or GAZ coilovers? I'd probably do this in conjunction with polybushes, adjustable top mounts to gain -ve camber and a thicker (maybe Touring) rear ARB?

I can't find any info on the web of anyone else that has fitted anything more than lowering springs and maybe marginally uprated dampers.

Plan is to keep it semi-usable on the road but optimise it for larger tracks and Ring/Spa type Euro trips.

Any pointers?

Hi Ste?,

This topic has be discussed at length on the unoffical M5 board. Alot of the guys have got feed up of replacing leeky shock absorbers and went for 'normal dampers' and some fitted lowering springs. If you do an advance search to return answers only from the e34M5 discussion forum you should get plenty of results, click here:-

Also from memory there is a topic regarding this subject on the E34 M5 FAQ website:-

http://www.bmwe34m5.com/faqs/

Hope that helps if not give us a shout and I'll see if I can find the specific posts.

PS always good to see another E34 M5 - another brave soul.

grahame34m5 - I searched over there but found nothing of use - maybe I'll try again.

Trackm3 - David Lyon at Gaz would have been my first port of call when it comes to actually buying - I used Ledas (David Lyon era) on my race car so I know how good I can expect the GAZ to be.

I just wanted some impartional advice from someone with experience of doing a similar conversion first though...
