Rear spring cups for Bilsteins can not be bought on their own and Bilstein and BMW will only supply them with a new shock. In my case they supplied the wrong size for my spring. So i supplied mark McLennan with a standard spring and old shock and we had a fabricator make some. I think mark had about 30 made up so if anyone wants one they are now available.

BTDT- the spring pans look like 2mm thick material at the top and bottom, but because its a pressing its half as thick on the conical section, and yes, they can rust.....

Keep the drain holes clear, add waxoyl annually....

I always known that rear pans of Bilsteins shocks were weak points in the E24...They are not welded to the shocks, but they sits there like big big washers...they had(well...have )the bad habit to rust...

Front legs have drain holes, but onmy car were clogged by sand, and the mud of bed roads....But it takes more time to go....

Some of the e23 owners are finding that their spring pans on the front legs on the e23's are rotten (part where the spring sits in the leg), to the point that some have actually collapsed. I imagine that the e24 may suffer the same problem. So check the legs guys if you can!
