i thought "car speculators" (people who order cars then sell their place in the queue) were meant to sell at over list price so they make money out of it

this guys got it all wrong

Current waiting list is 2 years????

He's a liar!!!

You can have about 20 of them, brand new, without miles, tomorrow if you want!  There are an absolute hoard of cancelled orders left over from when the price was confirmed.

Apart from the one I test drove, I have since been offered another two!!!!!  No mileage, ready for tomorrow.

Plus, they're dropping money already because of the fact they're not moving.  There are a few people (speculators) who have had their pants taken down on the M6...big style.

Now if this was 10-15 years ago it would be easy to make a fast buck on a purchase such as this.... how times have changed.

Nope.

They're simply not selling at the moment and there are a lot of people getting very nervous about the money they're dropping.  I know of one guy who took his back to the dealers 3 weeks after buying it.

The list price he paid including options was just under £89k.  He was offered £70k by the dealer.  £19k - in 3 weeks.  Nice.

That may be a rather drastic example but there are very strong rumours of BMW slashing the list price soon anyway.

weird.... i wonder why it hasn't turned out to be a success, it looks great from most angles (shades of e46 ci on the side profile) and i haven't read a bad review yet

maybe as you say it's just too damn expensive for what it is, i wonder if the m5 is suffering a similar fall in residuals?

The M5 is doing the opposite and is holding very strongly indeed.

There are a few used examples around but they're close to list price and the waiting on one if you ordered today is still around 6 months minimum.

...and the Z8. Apparently first on sale at £86k, it very quickly came down to £80k.

There was one Z8 advertised in "The Times" yesterday at £42k. So, if you've got cash burning a hole in your pocket, you know what to do....
