interesting that not too many highlines must be around. Mine was built Dec '87, registered Aug '88 and chassis details: 8188034

8185515 - built December 1982, but not registered 'til 1st February 1983.

its got a/c but no cruise mine was reg on 01/03/90 everything electric and it all works,windows sunfoof seats the paintwork is tired but nothing that cant be sorted out in the bodyshop its came with a stack of bills and he spent more on it this year alone than what i ended up paying for it.its got those silly trx wheels(very lively in wet)with mint tyres it has the full tool kit and a unopended first aid kit im its 3rd owner and plan to keep it for a long time

Excellent. My Highline built Nov 1988 chassis 8188338.
Registered 10/2/89.
Have you got cruise & a/c Dave? Whats the spec then?

yeah its got leather dash in fact everything is leather door cards roof lining and its got a ground effect kit on it which seems to be some form of overbumper kit,the last seven digits are-8188550

Some of the earlier hilines had standard plastic dashboards and door tops.

yeah, highline for sure at that date, big aluminium bumpers with plastic end trims. The last chrome-bumper cars were made mid 1987.
You may be able to get records of your car build (options etc) even now from BMW. Just quote the last seven VIN digits. Most options will be obvious, but some (eg sports suspension, big fuel tank) are not.
Nice cars, (bit heavier than earlier ones though... not a big deal though...)

1990? That'll be a Highline. Highlines came in around mid to late '87.
Easy way to tell is if the dash is leather-covered.
Dig out you chassis number & we can find out how late it is. G-reg makes it one of the last registered.

hi there ive just bought a 635 and ive been reading some of the post on here and im not sure if my car is a highline or not.or were they all highline,s after a certain date
mine is a 1990 g reg 635
any help greatly appreciated
