Yep use Magellan Roadmate 300. Works perfectly, but not all minor roads
outside the big cities/towns are covered. Dublin is really well covered,
including all the industrial estates etc. I have used it lots in the UK and its
amazing - even tiny roads are covered. There is a new map card due out
soon which will include more comprehensive mapping of ireland, but as it
is it will get you to within a mile or two of pretty much anywhere you want
to go anyway.

Retail price here is €499 - which is actually cheaper than the UK, but obviously way dearer than the 'states. I can do a bit better on that price, but as with most consumer electronics, theres not that much margin

I use teletype myself. As with them all coverage is not the best around Ireland but in the city's no problem at all. I used it also in France and the UK and I have to say it was spot on. Hopefully new maps to come soon for Ireland. I only paid $139 usd for the software on the internet.

I went into Aldi, Tullamore this morning and was told that all the Sat Nav's were sold by 9.15. What a bummer. I think i'll check out the deal on the Garmin's. Would it be better to wait until after x-mas when the whole country will be mapped ?.

I picked up the Aldi One today... I'm very impressed! Coverage between towns is minimal, but the street level maps for Limerick is very impressive! I reckon it will save me a lot of time when in Dublin! Happy Out!
