    Posted: 29-November-2002 at 01:32

Hello all,

Iam a new menber, I have a 318i ( at the moment, a 325 is planed for the near future).

I was wondering if there were any planed track days within central UK programed in the next couple of months on which i could take this car.

Thanx

If you don't get any joy with club organised days, you could try the Pistonheads website, they seem to list lots of days at lots of track thru lots of orgnaisers.

I've done days with Gold Track who are a pretty organised bunch and I've heard good things about Book a Track, Easytrack, Slipstream and a whole host of others.

try here http://www.pistonheads.com/trackdays/calendar.asp

That site is brilliant! I spoke to the organiser of the Hullavignton airfield and the organiser of the goodwood event and both were very helpfull indeed.

So thanks for the link.

cheers

The next BMWCC trackday is at the Bedford Autodrome on Monday 24th March 2003.

Book in with Andrew at the office.

Ooh that's close enough to my birthday to splurge. Do you guys have noise regs to meet, IIRC Bedford's a fairly quiet one isn't it?

Better join the club I guess for that one too... Oops

i might try to get to that one, Thing is I won't have the 325 by then. Will it be okay for me to go on track with a slightly jazzed 318i E30 1991? Will i reck it? Thanks for the posts guys.

cheers

It's not so bad, I have never known a BMW to fail the sound check.

Perfectly, we once had a 'driver of the day' in a 316!

Not if you take notice of all the free advice and instruction.

What will it cost? What time does the track open and what time does it close? I'm in cardiff so quite a way away. Many thanks for the posts.

cheers

Check the other track day thread, £130 is the price which is very keen for Bedford although it is a bit flat!

That would be my only criticism and is true for all airfields (for fairly obvious reasons) but on the plus side it is a pretty tasty circuit with plenty of run off so very few worries about bumping into things! The fun to be had will be carrying speed through the corners so relatively underpowered cars can still be excellent entertainment and instruction is well worth it to help you with the lines, plus it'll be coned most likely with entry, clipping and exit points for you to aim at. Having had instruction there before they're good chaps too!

I'd suggest a B&B though ifyou have a long way to travel back, my first track day was absolutely knackering!

Chaps, are there any trackday guidelines for beginners anywhere on the club website?!

I think Richard has done some work on that one and it is hidden in the ///MPower pages somewhere...

... there are quite a lot of trackday sites out there, UKTrackdays is quite a good one with a lot of useful info for the novice..

We are quite spoilt here in the BMWCC, our trackdays are pretty much the envy of the trade... and we are not trade, just a bunch of members having fun.. and so we have been for over twenty years now, long before the trackday scene emerged. All our instructors are club members and offer their services free of charge... some of our guys are even employed by the Nurburgring..

nuf said.

In that case I'm doubly spoilt as the Lotus 7 club days (other toy!) are exceedingly well run too - Oh what a hard life it is sometimes...
