New forum, 1st Day, 1st Post why is like being 5 again, it always feels like the first day of School...

Anyhow, to save you lads the time I won't bother waffling about who/what/where I am etc. I'm sure that will all come out in time... but I will jump striaght to the point...

I've just got hold of a 1980 635...  it's a bit of an old goat but stil (or will) have plenty of life left to go...  However, in my quest to bring this fantastic car back to life I'm in need of a Workshop Manual...  having loads of trouble tracking anything down...

Any advice would be much appreciated, specifically where I can lay my hands on a copy for myself...

Cheers

A workshop manual for a series 1 six is not an easy thing to come by. I am not aware of one available, but there is one for the series 2 published by Bentley if you can get hold of one. You might need to get one for either the CS coupe or the E12 5 series as they basically share the same chassi. However i would recomend visiting www.bigcoupe.com where there are over 400 six series owners ready to give advice and have probable dealt with any problem you might have.

Very helpful, thanks for the advice...

I've found one in the US for $329 which seems just a tad steep, don't you think?  Then again probably not if there as rare as you tell me, but I can assure you I won't be parting with any cash for it!!!

I'll check out www.bigcoupe.com as suggested, much appreciated

Cheers

"Motor Books" near Leicester Square Tube station generally has a photocopied manual in stock - this will cover Series 1, but it's an indifferent copy as far as quality is concerned.

Why not order the CD-ROM workshop manual, available through Motormec (01502) 500590? For the not inconsiderable sum of £85, this covers the entire production span from 1976 to 1989. The CD-ROM manual can be found near the bottom of this page, if you click here
