Used to want the Civic Type R, until I was introduced to the S14!

On the whole, if I wanted a second reliable car and only had a little to
spend it would go on a Honda. I heard, although I don't know if there is
any truth in it, that Honda have not ever had a recall or faulty Vtec engine
since they have made them, and we are talking about alot of engines.

Anyway, you guys that love your old school BMW's like your E30M3's
where's the love for the NSX???
I would get one over a Ferrari of the same generation no question about
it.
I do like the S2000 but if I had the money I would go with an NSX

Last year I had a dyno shoot out with 14 or so Civic Type R's, and an Integra. A couple of the owners seemed OK, but the rest.

Most of them had detonation problems, so very aggressively mapped. They all wanted 2 runs, I have no idea why?? They all seemed to question each other power figures with similarly modded cars, But the Dyno doesn't lie!

Anyway, forget the Civic, and to some extent the Integra. What about the S2000? I quite like that one. And I don't mind being noisey about it either!  

Since the dyno day, I have never looked at a Civic Type R owner in the same way.

no they havnt got anything.

i used to own the 1.6 civic vti which did the 158bhp the car and engine were awsome but had to get rid of it because you were always fighting with it to over take all the power was in the top 1000 revs. the 100lb ish torque didnt help either.

Hmmm, a high reving car with not much torque trying to pull out a horse box. I hope you gave your brother a slap for being such a clown

Hondas aren't bad cars, in fact the engines are pretty amazing. I used to own a Honda Civic 1.6 I16. It wasn't even a Vtec but it stll had 130bhp, a 7200 rpm redline and it went forever. The 1.6 Vtec engine made a genuine 158bhp which is almost 100bhp per litre, unlike the M3 evo.

The 200sx as standard won't touch an M3. However spend a couple of grand and you can get over 300bhp.

 

Entering an age of Austerity and now driving a Focus Diesel.

I know the Intergra's come with an LSD, unsure of the civic's though..

They are crap in the wet. I think they are supposed to have a mild traction control system but you just end up spinning the wheels at every junction.

we have a few guys round my way that have 200sx's, both have enourmous exhausts on them, but were really surprised to see what an e36 M3 could do to them in the twisty bits. They don't seem to bother me now!

i used to have a civic vti before m3 the 1.6 vti was awesome in town but rubbish on m'way which is where i do most of my driving, it was crap and again below 5,000 the engine was rubbish at 50mph in 5th id havr to drop it to 3rd to get anywhere. there fun for toys but for real a real drive experience compering the honda 2 the bm the honda has alot still to build on.

Not a fan of the civic at all!

I had a bit of a run in with some jap metal today, a 200sx, and I was surprised that he didn't gain anything on me at all, even with his turbo wooshing away like there was no tomorrow!

Them type r's are no good below 5000 rpm!

Completely the wrong car for tugging things!

Why buy the civic? I much prefer the Integra, and there 'aint half as many of those about than grannies civic!

my brother is a misguided civic type r owner BBBBOOOO!!!!!

He helps at the local scout hut occasionly and today they were cleaning the waste land at the back, some git had dumped a old horse box there and after about a year it had well and truely bedded itself in craig tried to pull it out using his toy after lots of smoke from his clutch and no movement he gave up, i turn up to laugh at him and suggest i try, toeing eye fitted and 1st selected, and horse box moved, with little effort no clutch smell let alone smoke. when finished park m3 next to still smoking type r.

M3 1 type r 0

 

BMW rocks
