Occasional Insurance - Purchased M3!!

   Hi All,
I know the club has been trying to get a discount from Ins companies but what I want to know is if anybody is aware of any Ins comp in Eire that does occasional/limited mileage policy??
I have just (at long last) bought an 88 M3 EVO II in Nogaro Silver, 68k miles, but only want to run it at weekends or when its not raining!! The car is absolutely fantastic pristine condition and dont want to run it as a daily driver.  It will be garaged most of the time and when I fell the urge, will take it out for a lap.

	Hibernian will do a limited mileage policy - don't know of any companies that will give occasional insurance though, unless you transfer the policy from your daily driver to the M3 at weekends. Congratulations on the purchase by the way!!

	Congrats, worth the wait in the end then! What you need is a Classic or Semi-Classic policy, that covers you for limited miles per year. As the car is garaged and u have other means of transportation it should be quite cheep. Not sure if any of these cover Eire, but give 'em a go! 	Well done Eamo. Can't wait to see it. Evo II is edspecially fabulous. Give St. Pauls a call re insurance. Also check with Derek Hunt - his brother has just insured an M3 through a brokerage in Donegal no less. P.S. I must get the glove box off you when you get back down to earth!

	Just been out for a lash! savage - roads are nice and quiet so i was well able to give it welly. unbelievable is all i can say. i didnt know a rwd car could handle so well and as for the power - it makes my previous 325 feel like a 316 (apols to 325 and 316 owners) bmw truely made a supercar in the form of the e30 m3

	Bren Whatever way they set up the car, you can take a corner faster than the 325is. You dont get a feeling that the back end might slip way from and therefore feel far more confident when taking a corner at speed. Also the rack is far more responsive if that is the correct way to decribe it. One can only truely realise the difference when one has been behind an e30 M3. I will gladly let you take mine for a spin so you can exp the contratsing difference between an e30 m3 and a 325is. There is a section of roads and lanes near me that I call "the lap". I have brought every single car i owned on this lap at some time or another and noticed a huge differnce in handling terms and being able to take the corners a lot faster than normal with the m3 than in my other cars. I hope this tries to give you a better idea but as I said earlier the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Still have that glove box for you by the way!

	Dalts That was me alright last night in my 316!! fastest 316 i've ever driven On a serious note any ins comp i ring doesnt want to know about the m3! what am i supposed to do now??

	Try St.Pauls - they'll insure almost anything, as will ARB... not sure if they do the limited mileage policy though. Have you tried Quinn Direct? They gave me my cheapest quote on an M3 Evo...

	K tryed st pauls but they wont deal with the public only brokers and my broker doesnt have st pauls on his books (have to kick him into touch) who are ARB? do you have a number

	The major front suspension/steering differences between the E30 M3 and its contemporary "garden variety" E30 are: - the rack is geared higher - around 3.5 turns to lock v's around 4 turns - Offset control arm bushings giving increased castor These differences combined together greatly increase the steering turn-in response. Installing the busings actually also a good and resonably easy mod for any e30 to improve steering. I will be doing this soon to your old wagon...... BTW Eamo - doesn't the club have a group insurance arrangement with Carole Nash - have you tried them?

	Yes, I have the M3 bushing installed - there is a write up on the job too on my website. Also, the M3 has a reduced swept angle on the rear trailing arms, less weight forward of the front axle, a slightly wider track, stiffer front ARB, improved damping... Eamo, gladly will bring the car for a drive! Email me about Derek Hunt - because of the Data Protection Act (I'm an official, er, offical of the club so have to abide by it), I can't automatically give out his number but I can ask him if its OK. I'm at purcellb@hotmail.com. You must sprint up to Dublin in the M3 with the glovebox! BTW, also ring AON. They are linked with the club in the UK, although we have had no joy over here. Maybe moan at them a bit to see if you can get anywhere! Will be good to see it at Mondello, no?

	have had a bit of luck with ARB but they want �2500!!!
