Interesting one this... all 4 of the side windows in my E30 M3 have lots of fine scratches on the INSIDE of them and I don't know why?!

It's something that's been there since I got the car but kept forgetting to look into. It's very odd they are on the inside and they aren't little short ones, they run almost the full length of each window. I'd take a picture but don;'t think my camera would pic them up.

So, my question is does anyone know of a way to maybe polish the scratches out? Or have any other suggestions except replacing the whole glass which could be a challenge as it's tinted isn't it?

Hiya Jon,

Were the windows tinted using film at any point that you know of? I only say that because to apply the film it has squeegeed on and that may have caused them. Cant help with getting them out tho! Sorry!

I bet it's from removing the tint film. I removed mine and it is a PIA the get rid of the adhesive. You can buy special remover, but costs an arm and a leg. I used thinner, lots of thinner.
E61 520d, slow and buzzy but my wallet likes the mpg.....

hmmm.. I'll give that a go but it really does look/feel like it's IN the glass....

Did you know that if all of windows on your car were vandalised.. you could claim on the windscreen part of your insurance policy and get them replaced without it affecting your ncb.

Did someone say this doesn't affect your NCB?

My windscreen is pitted with scratches and chips... Might just get a slightly larger stone chipping and finish the job.

U need to check your policy Omi to make sure this is the case. I think this is the case with most Fully comprehensive policies but not sure about other policies like TPFT.

You don`t even have to damage the glass yourself. I`m sure most fitters will gladly write it off as a screen beyond repair for insurance purposes - even if it`s just scratched.

There is often a small excess to pay of about £50 but there are plenty of glass places that will cover your excess.. I guess they add it onto the invoice they send your insurance policy?!

I had heard a while ago that it covers all the glass on the car but I had forgotten that... maybe it's time for a bit of senseless vandalism on my car then.....

And then replace the back screens with the side opening one's!
