Dear all, I have had problems with the sunroof of my 635 (feb 1985 model)had a go with the sunroof again today, and all the motor/ running gear seems to be ok (you can see it moving through the track), the roof is not sliding on its own, and it sticks in 2 places, after which it will not move with out a push. Then on closing it sticks in the same places. These 2 places are immediately the roof dips, but then sticks before it slids, and at about 5 inches from it being completely open. Also the tilt function does not work, and ive given it a but of persuasion, but its not interested.
Any help as always is greatly appreciated, Ben Edited by phb10186 |

Ben, Do a google search for "big coupe group". There is a lot of E24 information on this site, particularly descriptions of work carried out by people working on their own cars. They may have come across the problems you have.

Ben has already been on the bigcoupe site - but good idea! I have PM'd him a link to do with sunroofs. THIS may also help Ben, but I can't recall whether or not I've already emailed him this. Its 5 series, but I think very very similar. He also has a 6 series maintenance CD arriving with his 'new' sunroof which he should find invaluable!! On a seperate note, I will be out in Dubai this Christmas, visiting my father who has lived out there for about 23 yrs!! Do you have a 6'er then? Thought there might be a few E24's in Dubai as they were always a sought after model, climate is kind to them in comparison to salty roads of England! Dave |
