Wicklow was good, I'm sure Belfast will be, Mondello without a doubt.... but what about between now and Mondello?

Surely we can figure something out that will suit both North & South based members??

Answers on a postcard please!!

There are a few things in the pipeline (see here). These include a drive in Galway organised by Kevin and an economy run from Portlaoise to Clonmel.
I was offered the use of the valet facilities in Murphy & Gunn and would like to know if anyone is up for a 'Valet Day'.
Given the attendance at the last event they sponsored, I would only organise this if I was sure there would be plenty of people going.
If this was held on Sunday in July/Aug would you be on for it (not within a fortnight of another event)?
If you are let me know here or by email (bmw@kbannon.com)

What do mean exactly by Valet day? If Murphy and Gunne are offering we should take them up regardless!

They have offered their assistance to a few things but this could be one option (currently just testing the water on it).
I believe (subject to agreement) that I was offered the use of their valet shop so everyone could clean/wax/whatever their cars for free. I believe that one or two of the guys could be available to help (not 100% sure on this). It could be a bit of fun (Cliff Richard'esque images of us all singing and tossing soap bubbles & spraying water are suddenly coming to mind!).
Seriously though, it could be something with a bit of craic!

Its sounds like it'd be a bit of a laugh - could get some bikini clad ladies to help us chamois the cars down

Seriously though - how many cars could we expect the get valeted?? It'd take about 2 hours per car, and I'd imagine they only have two bays?

Maybe we could combine this with a Concours completion like last year?

I would suggest October again too!

Sounds good - everyone still interested? (bear in mind that Oct is not the best month to have the bikini clad ladies!

tut tut Killian - October is probably the best month for the bikini babes!! nice and chilly....

I'd be on for it definitely -

On a separate note - any chance of M&G passing on the parts discount to members like some BWM dealers do in the UK???

Killian,

Now that you've brought Cliff Richard into the equation,I'm definately on for that.I reckon July or Aug is perfect. Going to grow a quiff now!

That parts discount would be a great idea! Has it been discussed?

I'll talk to Stephen Murphy soon when i know more about the event - I think Brendans idea of combining with concours is best.
I do remember that when I was in Maxwells in Blackrock recently the guy at the parts counter told me that they offer 10% to members (I didn't bother with it on that purchase as I only spent about €2), so I assume M&G would do also. If you ask when getting parts at any dealer you would possibly find the same discount. Furthermore, I would imagine that when the BMW transfer is completed from Frank Keane (MIL), there would be an obligation on dealers to offer the same deals to members here as they do in the UK.
Management there are very keen on the club (even signed up 3 staff!) - 3 cheers for Murphy & Gunn.

Yes, at the meet last month in Athlone, we agreed that we will be actively chasing the new organisation on this - because control of what happens in franchises/dealers will become more rigid.

If you ask you should get a discount - although its not guarneteed!

German & Swedish gave me a discount yesterday when I asked.
