On the 16th October we will be holding a run out to Whitby over the North

We hope to have a meal out so please send me an email if you propose to

Rhys,

I didn't go last year, but I remember that you stopped at the top of Sutton Bank to meet up with anyone coming from the North.

Same again this year?

Not sure of itinerary, have contacted Howard for info.

The last outing we had, I met up with folks in Helmsley (cue Coasting and his pork pie experience ). This run went round the back roads and was organised by the MG club, I think the one planned here goes over the moors (the Devils Fruitbowl/Elbow and Saltersgate Inn are on this route, so is Goathland).

Hmmmmm Clashes with Donington!

Not sure what to do now......

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavours last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

The Helmsley/Whitby run was a great day out.  The pork pie was awful (and big).

I'll give this one a miss though.

Rhys,

Same destination, different organisation. The pork pie event was arranged by Durham Thoroughbred Wheels in April, the one I was on about was arranged through the Car Club last November.

Tim,

I hadn't realised about the dates clashing, that's a BIG problem as I'd like to do both.

If you do change the date let me know.

I promised she who must be obeyed a weekend away without the kids.

This would be a great way of meeting up with you lot, and keeping my promise.

Best Wishes

Nigel

Goddammit Howard, she had just said yes !

I'll have another look, that weekend was the first weekend of half term, so mom in law was going to have the horrors, we could drive up Saturday, meet you lot , do Sunday, stay over somewhere and drive back Monday.

What time do you normally finish on these things ?, as driving back on Monday will not be an option because its a school day, and mom in law can't get the horrors to school.

Best Wishes

Realisticly its looking doubtful for me now Rhys, pity as combining a weekend away and meeting up with you lot was almost too good to be true.

I'm looking at doing it as a day trip, but although driving the car there and back is part of the fun for me, its not much fun for the kids sat in the back.

I suppose we could still stay over Saturday, but it seems a rush back when Monday is a work/school day.

Who booked donnington for the wrong day  eh eh ?

Best Wishes

Nigel

Went round the route on Thursday and then came home and wrote out the sheet. Starts at Morrisons at Borough Bridge just off the A1M, then mainly via the back roads to Whitby, with coffee stops and places indicated on the route sheet. Time for a coffee (or what have you) stop on the way, and arrive in Whitby between 1.30 and 2.30. Lots of places in Whitby to eat, with a couple of recomendations for fish n chips. Other food is available for the non fish eaters amongst you. There is a return route plan, which was chopped short due to the local council closing the roads to repair the flood damage caused by the storm esrlier this year. However, that was only about 10 miles.
We are not going in convoy, so you can set off when you like as soon as you have your sheets. Unfortunately the splendid new cafe at Morrisons does not open until around 10.00 am, so you won't get the super tasting and cheap bacon butty that started my day.

Everyone welcome. If you are likely to arrrive after 10.15 am, and want a copy of the route, send an email to me.

Watch out for the sheep!!!
