I'm about to buy a X5 Sport
I do about 20.000 plus miles a year
I have been driving a 530D sport E39 so I know the 3.0 engine
I realise it will be pushing extra weight, but with fuel prices going
up and up I have been considering LPG.
I have the money to buy and convert a X5 to LPG
I have loads of garages selling it where I go around the country
and if I get stuck I can use the petrol!
I don't care about re-sale as I intent to drive it for at least
5 years, and it will be heavy in miles.

What do you guys think?
Diesel or petrol with LPG?

Hmmmm. 4.4 petrols are cheaper to buy than
diesels. I'd do an LPG conversion (£2000) on a 4.4 -
but would be a bit miffed if the "Government" put
heavy Duty on LPG. I guess on LPG you'd be doing
the equivalent of 40-44 mpg and an X5 D won't do
that much.
The Prinz LPG systems are superb. I drove a 4.4
540i E39 and was switching to LPG under full throttle
- you'd never know.
The only downside I can think of is that you can't use
Eurotunnel with an LPG car.

Big Deal!

I am feeling it is the way to go, with the miles I do even if they put up the duty by 50% on LPG It's still cheaper than Diesel.

And I prefer the Ferry!
