i just bought an m535i on ebay, im off to collect next week and had a few questions:

what are the differences between the 535 and the m5, and does the m535i qualify as a proper 'm' car?

The 535 engine is 12 valve with 218 bhp whereas the M5 has the 24 valve 286bhp engine. HTH

Was that the blue one, black leather with 7 series wheels?

I think you'll find the difference is the M5 has more power (286 bhp) and handles well due to a different suspension set up. The M535 does not have the most forgiving handling characteristics especially in the wet on TRX tyres.

I guess M5 owners will say the M535 was not a 'proper' M as it was not until the e28 M5 came along that BMW really nailed the M package. That's not to say an M535 can't be a whole lot of fun though .
