Hi guys,

Was away last week, but came back on Sunday & was able to collect my Highline! Very Happy

I'm very pleased with the completed work.

This was not a total refurb, 'just' replacing front wings, repainting boot lid after repairing it on the lower seam & removing a quite large dent, repairing/repainting rear spoiler, repairing/repainting lower door edge (forget which one now.....), repairing/repainting around rear number-plate lights, the 'infamous' Highline trap below the numberplate, around the rear lights where the corrosion was pretty advanced, replacing/repainting the sunroof panel (this caused major anquish all round...).

All in all, quite alot of work.

The rear '635csi' badge was in a poor state, so at the moment the car is debadged - must admit I quite like it that way.

Also, the side stripes need to be done (later this week), although I rather like it without.......! Only still on the doors.

The number-plates are going to be replaced, these ones are pretty tatty.

Wheels to be refurbed very shortly.

A few pics for your delectation guys.

This work cost me 700.00 GBP all in, for which I am most pleased!! Bargain me thinks.

More pics to follow when I get the chance & have given the car a good wash & polish.

Dave Very Happy

The wings used were good second-hand ones I had sourced from another 6 owner, off a scrapper, some time ago. Originally they were for my green 635, but came into service for the Highline instead.

Once adequately prepped & painted they were fitted.

They were stone-chipped on the reverse, then given a rubberised/wax coating that should mean they last longer than the rest of the car........!!! Lots of regular hose-pipe'ing under the wings should help to ensure their longevity.

Dave

Thanks!
They are standard on the Highline, but can hide rot........

Funny that the only one that had any rot was the off-side rear, usually you'd expect the near-side to be the more likely side to be affected.

The guy who has done the work for me is getting them made up by a signwriter friend of his - in with the price.

If you look in the ylw pages or similar for signwriters you need one that uses computer cutting, they can then make up just about anything you want.

I'll ask how much if they weren't already in the price Johnny.

My six is currently "de-striped" & I'm not sure whether to put them back on.

My originals were very faded so took them off.  I got a new set to match from a local signwriter for less than £10.

See you at Gaydon Dave?

Some better pics that I took today on a builder friends 'farm' - I think cars look much better when photographed on grass!

I reckon that if I can get the remaining stripes off the two doors easily that it will remain de-striped.

Yep, I agree eta, the 6 is a classic shape - wonder if we'll all be saying that about the current 6 when its in its twilight years?!

Stripes removed off the only two places where they were left - the doors. Passenger door, doddle, came off practically in one go!

Drivers door,  s     l      o      w    &n bsp; progress.........,

BUT, now off!!

Just got to polish where I've removed the residue, hey presto - sorted!!

Nah. People will be too occupied with sorting out the electronic problems to notice the E63/64's aesthetics

Jay, I'll be in tomorrow afternoon if you want to pop round.

Give us a bell first, should be in after about 2pm - you've got my number I think. Might have to pop up to a mates in Dodford.

Drove past your place the other day as I queued down to the traffic lights at the M42/Forest roundabout - you had a black Merc on your drive, under a gazebo! Chipping it I guess!
