fitting Alpha-N would invalidate your warranty. I collected mine from Martin & John last weekend and, hopefully, will be fitting it in time for Croft. I am going to try and get "before and after" dyno run's on the same rolling road to see what difference that shows on an otherwise stock engine. Of course the "after" will be minus the AFM.

Newbsta1, check out the following page and scroll down to see Alpha N etc. Basically, its another control device to extract more power and used with additional devices, like a carbon airbox etc, make the best of the S14.

Nice video. John's car does sound brilliant. The sound from a carbon airbox never fails to send shivers down my spine! Am i sad  ?

Uwe what does your car sound like now? You have changed to alpha n but kept the standard induction routing without the afm, is that right?

haha yeah i survived....made the mistake of trying to keep up with someone faster (215DMX) AND not knowing the track..."traps for new players" i believe.

It was a timely warning, reinforced by watching a bike go into the armco right infront of me a few corners later!! So the only real risk i had was getting crash debris in my feet going to help him!

And yep great to meet you, hoping to catch up with everyone at a ring or track event in the near future.

Andrew

I hate customs....... in fact not happy with the french police either, as I got banned from driving on the way to Le Mans the weekend before the trip to the Ring.......... 225 kph and a 750 Euro fine..... Dam...... But still one of the best holidays i have had. Le-Mans..... Beaches in Biarritz and then a hectic weekend at Nurburgring.......Perfect

4500km added to my car........but it still managed to gobble up the track like it had been carried there on a trailer.....

I am back there hopefully for the Aug Bank Hols....anyone fancy it??

Will have new Exhaust, get my A/C fixed as it packed up when arriving in Freance, and more importantly.....bigger brakes, as mine fadded heavily at one point and i well and truely Sh1t myself.

Mike, i am the same with regards to GT4........... i have done about a 500 laps in the Merc 190 Evo 3 *(as thats the nearest car to our Bavarian Beauties).......... It helped so much....... knowing where the course goes, knowing how big the bends actually etc.

Aaahhh yes i did do a little sight seeing at Adenauer Forst, but after seeing a car on its roof the next lap that tried to take the corner, i think i came out OK!

BTW i have a 2 meg video of John's car (sounds awesome) but no where to host it. Does anyone have a web page they could host it from? If so pleasae PM me.

Cheers

My brakes were shot when I left the ring - juddering like hell and almost undrivable - not the best with a 400 mile drive home.

The slowly got better and by the time I got to Belgium theyw ere fine again - it's just pad transfer I think.

I haven't checked the oil yet, but according to Brian and Uwe it was smoking a lot on red-line gear changes.

It burned a litre on the way to the ring - about 950 miles.

My starter motor seemed to jam when the car was red-hot. When it's coll it's fine, but sitting waiting to get off the ferry, I was dreading turing the key and nothing happening - it was alright actually, but I'll strip down the starter motor tomorrow night.

I've got a good selection of new stone chips on the bonnet and a mess where I wiped out a small bird on the motorway in Belgium - damn it made a loud noise smashing off the grille at around a ton.

So another 2500 km's on the clock and well worth it.

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!beerchug

Hard to sum it up really - great food, great beer, great driving and great company (In no particular order).

A few moments do stick in my mind though -

  • A 4am start at Uwe's on Friday
  • A calm drive across France and Belgium
  • A mad mad trash over the last road after the road from hell (it's all your fault Brian)
  • Uwe dropping a gear every five minutes to check his exhaust still sounded awesome (It did - every time)
  • The joy of working A/C
  • Not pumping up my tyres enough
  • Realising my standard 215 is no match for Uwe's 2.5 conversion
  • Steve's Diesel Ring Taxi - AWESOME - GT2 eater.....
  • Passenger laps with two of the smoothest drivers I've ever sat next to - John and Brian - respect
  • Putting names to faces is always good
  • Dave - That bit of special rubber will be built into the tyre wall at Fintray hillclimb next week.
  • Dave's a nutter!
  • Jake can't hold his beer (in the glass)
  • John is even more laid back when he's pissed
  • Spending the day at MAXX Martin's mapping Uwe's car
  • Driving Uwe's car back to the ring from Martin's - a sure fire way of marketing a Maxx kit.
  • Uwe - our translater, organiser and very brave to let me drive his car!!
  • Getting pissed every night at the PistenKlause (apt name)
  • A good safe drive home with no fines (bloody amazing considering)

Just brilliant - thanks guys.
