Myself and a few buddies are going to the ring. theres a few bm's and some jap performance cars as well.

Its gonna cost around €450 for boats and €250 for hotels. All you need after that is beer money and petrol.

Anyone wanna come along?

A few of us were kicking that idea around recently.  Unfortunately A) I'm not a good enough driver B) My car isn't powerful enough and C) It's my fathers 60th that weekend.

I should be there around those dates as there is a z3 meeting around the strasbourg area in france that I'll attend but for the WE it will be the z3 meeting though!

On tyhe 15/16 or 19/20 I'll be on the ring doing some suspensions developpement work with Hiop for z3s!

On the travelling note: I think it's cheaper (300€ for the boat) to go from rosslare to cherbourg then drive through france to the ring (around 900km I think, about the same as going accross UK and then to the ring!)

I'm sure the craic will be mighty as they say, but it will work out very expensive, and you'd be in some state on Thursday night after driving and other transport. Might be cheaper to fly direct and hire a car and then trash it.

its not that expensive - should be around €1500 all in which is not much. sure ye can thrash a rental car but we want to be able to say we tracked our own cars on the ring

I was over at Easter when the F1 track was open, All I can say is if you are going for your first time the fly/drive option is well worth it

You can also fly into Dusseldorf aswell, and Sixt are the best to get something nice off, like a Z4 which usually turns into a brand new SLK.

I dont know whether I can go, but certainly fly/drive would be a better proposition for me, and sharing the cost of the rental and track would also be a bonus.

Eamo - I understand what you are saying, and if you have €1,500 to spare then yes, go for it.

Oh I was just thinkin'. What if you crash your rental on the track. Presumably the rental companies are giving you the car on the understanding that it is not for track use.

Get onto Avis, they had GT3's in the airport when we were collecting our cars at Easter in Dusseldorf
