Ditto Mark, Thanx for the nice pic's Richie ( good to meet you by the way ) Killian, I did'nt see you there ! maybe you were in an empty field in Trim, a week too early ! Anyway I feel the club was poorly represented also, we had no new membership forms or even copies of Straight Six to hand out, maybe thats not what the day was about but judging by the amount of people there it was certainly a missed opportunity, maybe I assume too much ( ass out of you and me ! ) By the way fair play to Larry for the van and the gear he supplied, hopefully the convertible politics remain " on tour "
It was not a "club event" any more than the BTCC is. The person who paid for the day (Larry Armstrong) asked for older cars ("up to E30") and offered space up for the BMW Car Club. I relayed his message onto the forum like I was asked! I also went to the bother of ringing people with older cars who don't use the forum but I don't think any turned up!
When I arrived, there were 12 cars on the stand and I went looking for Larry to see if those coming at 2pm could fit in but no joy in finding him. I tried phoning him - no answer. I eventually saw him at the stand chatting to a group of people and I felt like a plonker standing there waiting for him so I went off.
With an 18 month old screaming because I wouldnt let him drive every car and a wife who wasn't feeling much better, I gave up!
Fair enough, thanks to Larry for his efforts, obviously the aim was to give priority to classics but also have the stand full.......not always poss to please everyone. Anyway at least it didn't rain and the cars that were on our stand attracted their fair share of the fairer sex,you can't beat a sunny day !!

Don't take this the wrong way but at the General Meeting on February the 26th it was discussed that the club would have a stand at the show and this is what most people thought was being organised but this did not happen??. All I can say is a Big Thanks to Larry for allowing us to put cars at the area that he booked for the day so next year I reckon we will have to have a Proper Club Stand all we can do is learn as we go along the club is only in its infant stages so heres to the future

Gerard here.

I would like to say thanks to Larry for making things happen on the day, Larry is a member and as such it was a club stand.

Unfortunately due to Larry's work commitments and the fact that I had a prior engagement(competing in my Ritmo at the Dungarven Hillclimb) and was not going to be there, the advance preparation was not sufficient for the event. So thanks again to Killian for getting things together at the last minute.

I am disappointed at the sniping by some people on the forum. It was our first time at Terenure and we had very little feel for the style of event and our objective now should be how we make Terenure 2006 an event that we will be proud of.

come on, everyone knows you're a big girl!

My view on it, I came in the afternoon, is: It wasn't perfect, but then again it was the first time. I don't hink there is a need to fight over it but an healthy discussion might give us a great plateform to have a better stand next year and the years after.

Having seen the show i think that the name of classic and vintage car show might be a bit too much as there was a lot of recent cars. An E36 M3 is already in my book a classic. I also think that with all the cars in the club we have plenty to get a 30 to 40 cars stand next year.

For some reason, I thought that this was an event that the club had visited before.  Obviously, from what Ger just said, I was wrong.

So, who's up for displaying their car(s) next year?

I'd be on if it was an official BMW car club Ireland Stand with info stand etc.I think it would attract a good bit of attention.

it was a good day for the best part.as for the politics with the baurs.i would like to voice my side.i was there from 10am along with the black m3 and the e90 waiting for someone to come to organise us into spaces,at 12.30 went to get a cup of tea and some drinks for the kids only to get back to find someone had got into my car and shoved it back a space.now if i had got into someones car while they were away from it and moved it i dont think they would be too happy with it.the decent thing would have been to wait until we got back and include us in the organising of the cars.

and ending on that subject thanx to all involved in organising.

i will be going to the show in lusk on the 27 july if anyone else is going maybe we could get a line of bmw`s

ill be there at 10.30am

The organisation that displayed before at Terenure was the BMW 2002 Ireland group. Some members of this group are members of the club, some not. Contact was made with them re organising a club stand, but no replies came from the leaders of the group. Larry is a member of the group but not a leading member. The BMW Car Club Ireland Section have been trying to improve communications with this group and have them properly integrated as the Ireland Section Historic Register, but with little success.

I hope this clarifies things a little.
