I'm looking to buy a new 6 cd changer for a 2001 E39. Is the only option with the above criteria to go to the main stealer? Thank you, |

Either that or fork out for an aftermarket one by Alpine or Pioneer or similar.

But wouldn't that then entail changing the Head Unit also in order to accomodate the Alpine etc. changer? It will definitely be a case of sticking with the BMW H/U. Looks like it will be a trip to M&G so! |

I think there are a few non bms ones can fit into the slot for the standard bmw one. I've seen ads for them, I'll check at home later and let you know

Graham Try these guys. I got one for my e39. I got the sony one, with an adaptor that just plugs straight in to the pre-wired connection in the boot. The head unit picked it up straight away. The only problem with the sony unit is that it is slightly smaller, physically, than the original and so wouldn't fit in the other bracketry in the boot. It wasn't obvious from the site, but I found out later than Alpine were the oem and the size would have matched. http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/9_188_1 90/spd/bmw.html |

Thank you for the link Dergside. I think I will be putting it to use. It's €500 for OEM, €450 for the Alpine unit supplied and fitted from a shop in ROI or Stg£170 plus postage for the Alpine from your website above. I think that settles it! |
