It's amazing what a search brings up...

Hi Grant,

There are measurements set by BMW. Starting from
the right of your boot lid measure in 75mm and that
is where you place the "3" badge. Then measure
9mm from the "3" badge to the left and that is where
you place you "M" badge. Both badges are 19mm
from the bottom edge of your boot lid. I hope that
makes sense.

Adrian

This is a poor scan from the BMW fiche but should help confirm the measurements. I have seen a better picture somewhere else but can't find it at the moment. I'll post when/if I do.

This has made me realise my rear badge is not in the correct place and I'm now worried if it will affect the handling.

Found it. Just add the 19mm from the bottom of the badges to the base of the bootlid.

That's great Kevin, thanks, just what I wanted! I know it's sad wanting it perfect, that's all I need know is measurements on where the wiper blades should be parked

Joke!

Actually, I wouldn't mind betting they exist! I know they have official measurements for the washer jets and where they should point!

Here are the washer jet specifications, scroll to the right.

Regarding the wiper blade parked position. On a DTM car it should be  vertical. On the more mundane road versions the outside end of the blade on the drivers side should be 45mm above the windscreen rubber.

Cheers

OK Clever clogs!

What about the position for the M3 badge in the grill at the Front of a E30 M3?

Give us the EXACT BMW requirements - go on, bet you can't!
Cats know your every thought.

But don't care.

Simon,

You are right I can't because there are no such specs.

AFAIR this has been the subject of much discussion and investigation. The position of the grill badge varies on the various cars used in BMW adverts.

Yep I knew you couldn't.

And as I've seen a number of "concour" cars with their Front badge in differing locations, I wonder why there is so much fuss to get the Rear Badge in exactly the right place?
